This was a pretty solid movie but it just fell apart at the end.
It was a cool premise, a droid raising bottled babies to resurrect humanity after an extinction event. And most of it is a tight, cabin fever drama with the teen-daughter and the droid-mother in their safehouse. But then an outsider, a surviving human appears with a different story and a healthy hatred of droids. Then it's still good for a bit. But then it's like they forgot to write a coherent or meaningful ending and you're left going "what is it supposed to mean" and "what happened?"
And that's okay, some people like it. But I felt like I did towards the end of series that have run too long... nobody knows and nobody cares and they're just churning out the ending to get there. Great sets, great droid, all female cast, cool premise... only let down is the ending execution.
J* gives it 3 stars.
