I really, really wanted to love this. The cast looks great... Sung Kang (aka one of my favourite F&F characters Han) is the main detectivey character. He's saddled up with baddy Sylvester Stallone and together they're a hunting the even more bad-baddy Jason Momoa. Based on imdb credits listing, it should be awesome.
But lo, it was not.
I struggle to explain why. I think, at the end of the day, I just didn't care. Like the whole movie I never really felt invested in whatever the stakes were meant to be. Why did Taylor Kwon really need to solve the crime? Why did Jimmy Bobo care so much about his hitman sidekick? And why was Keegan such a good bad-guy? I felt these things were never explored or answered. It was just straight up good-guy and bad-guy hunting badder-bad-guy with a teeny side-dish of crooked cop.
Most of this film has already vanished from my memory. There's a red handled flick-knife... that's nearly all I know.
J* gives it 2 stars.
PS. My mate loved it because he loves Stallone, and characters.
