Two Jonin and an Investigation

"That's not what I said."

"Senpai, I'm pretty sure they think we're dating."

"What makes you say that?"

"Well, today they saw us eat together and shop together, and they were spying on us..."

"But we always do that."

"I know, but do you do that with Gai?"

"No, but-"

"Exactly."

"Ok. Take note of any interactions between Yamato Taichou and Kakashi Sensei."

"Sakura, are you still stuck on this? What if they really aren't dating? Will this all just be a waste of time?"

"We might never know unless we try."

"We might never know even if we do try." They looked over at Kakashi and Yamato. From a first glance you could tell they were more than friends. But what were they, exactly? Sai walked over and started talking to them.

"Do you two live together?" He asked.

"No, but we share do an apartment," Kakashi said. "Different floors. Why'd you ask?"

"We saw you guys shop together, so I was just wondering."

"Ah. So, why were you guys spying on us?"

"Sakura will surely get mad if I tell you." Sai walked back to Naruto and Sakura and pulled out his book. It seems everyone had a special book of their own these days. Sai had numerous social books, Kakashi with his Icha Icha, and Yamato read about architecture on his own time.

"What'd you guys talk about?"

"I asked them if they live together," he smiled. Sakura and Naruto's faces seemed unreadable to Sai. It was like a mix of disappointment, amusement, and shock, really hard to describe. "They said no, but they live in the same apartment. And then Kakashi sensei asked why I asked, and I said I asked because I saw them shopping together." They kept the same faces, so he sat down and started reading. Finally, Naruto and Sakura relaxed their faces and sighed.

"I'm going over," Naruto decided. "Oi, Senseis. Do you know when our next mission is? We finish the D missions real quick, and it's getting boring."

"Here's a mission: wake up early next morning and make sure you're the first to pick up mission summons. Get the best you can get, but I know there haven't been many important missions lately." Yamato said, still kind of buried in his book.

"Yeah, and we just had a big mission last week, so of course they won't send us out again so quickly." Naruto nodded, secretly looking for any signs. But he couldn't find anything except that the two were sharing a wooden couch that was probably made by Yamato.

"Did you find any clues? Also, when's our next mission?" Sakura asked.

"Well, they're sharing a wooden couch. That's not a lot to build on."

"On the contrary," Sai said. "They're leaning against each other, which usually means they are close. Physically and relationship-wise. Close enough to be comfortable with each other."

"Hey, that's a great idea, Sai! We should send them to the hot springs together!"

"That's not what I said."

"Sakura, you'll be the death of this team. And I thought it'd be me, if anything," Naruto said.

"Oi, senseis, we should go to the hot springs sometime, hm?"

"If this is about the mask thing, I wear one in the bath, too." For whatever reason, Yamato caught a slight blush. Of course, Sakura took this as evidence, mentally noting it.

"We've just all been working very hard lately, with visible results. Especially you guys and Naruto. Anyways, I was just thinking about it." And just like that she walked away.

"So what? Do you wanna go senpai? We haven't really been working that hard."

"Yeah, and she's obviously planned something. But to be honest, I want to go and figure out what she's planned."

"Same. So, should we?"

"Yeah. Hey, Sakura!" Sakura basically teleported there. "Let's all go as a team after the next mission."

"Alright! I'll go tell the others." She ran back to Naruto, with that scary face. The one that says, "You're gonna do something right, or I'm gonna kill you" kind of face. "You better get us a good mission, so then our senseis will take us all to the hot springs."

"Deal! The hot springs are always relaxing. But seriously, Sakura. If nothing comes up at the hot springs, I think you should stop your investigation."

"Yeah, I don't wanna waste too much time on that. You're acting more and more mature these days. Before, you were just a baka knucklehead who-"

"I think I get the idea, Sakura."
