(Excuse my sad puns, I think they're funny)

"Oi, Naruto!" Sakura said, pulling Naruto aside. "Look, just do this for me. Look for clues, remember?"

"Oh, the investigation, right? Okay, but I'm there to cook." The rest of the mission was peaceful. The kids went to sleep shortly after Tenzo (mom form) made sure they brushed their teeth. Sai was impressed with Yamato's mom skills. He never thought Yamato Taichou would be so good with kids. But then Yamato went from nice-mom to mom-mom and made him and Naruto clean up. The real mom came home and tasted one of Yamato's rice balls, and thanked him and Kakashi for babysitting her kids. To be fair, all Yamato and Kakashi did was cook, and Kakashi barely helped. Sai quickly accepted the unjustness within his society and went home. Meanwhile, Naruto walked to Yamato's place for cooking lessons. They were there in no time.

"Welcome," Yamato said, opening the door.

"Wow, Yamato Taichou, you have a nice home!" He took off his shoes and looked around a bit. It was certainly bigger than his home. He walked into the kitchen and down on a wooden chair at a wooden table. "Did you make these?"

"Oh, yeah." Yamato said, rubbing his head. "Let's get started. What do you want to make?"

"And don't say ramen." Kakashi added.

"Um, can we just start with the basics?" Yamato nodded and turned on the oven. Naruto watched as Kakashi took out some rice and filled a pot with water. He set it on the stove.

"After we wait a while, the water will be absorbed and that's how you make rice. Whenever you're cooking food, make sure to check on it often."

"Cooking meat is simple. Turn the oven on, put some oil in the pan, put the chicken, and wait till it's cooked. You can't eat it if it's burned."

"What else can you cook like that?"

"You can cook rice, eggs, and vegetables, too, like that. I know Kakashi has a cookbook you can borrow."

"Fine, but you have to read it carefully. It won't be my fault if you set the house on fire."  Naruto jumped and looked over at the rice before starting on the chicken.

"Wash your hands before and after cooking, especially with raw foods," Yamato said. They were being really nice and teaching Naruto everything. They were kinda like his parents, almost. Or at least in the aspect of cooking. Then he remembered to look for those 'clues' Sakura was talking about. He didn't really see anything. It was really just three men cooking. Nothing wrong about that, right? But they were passing notes again, still kinda annoying.

Hey, remember that date?

Yeah. Where do you wanna go?

Just stay over tonight and we can watch a movie or something. Unless you wanna go out somewhere?

Nah. Here's fine.

"What are you guys doing?"

"Nothing." Yamato slipped the note in his pocket and checked on the chicken and rice. "Hey, the rice is done. Be careful and turn off that burner, and put the rice somewhere else." Naruto scooped up the rice and put it into a bowl while Kakashi took out soy sauce and teriyaki sauce.

"Choose one, and let's eat." Naruto choose soy sauce. Just in case he did something wrong, soy sauce rice tasted better than teriyaki sauce rice, right? Unless he messed up the rice. How could someone mess up rice? He barely did anything.

After tasting it, Yamato packed most of it into a little lunchbox for Naruto to take home.

"You truly are a mom," Kakashi said, bewildered.

"Bye, senseis!" Was the last thing the two jonin heard of Naruto before they shut the door.
