Two Jonin and an Investigation

Kakashi had a headache. And a bit of a hangover. He woke up in Tenzo's bed again, this was kind of normal now. Yamato was still asleep, it was still early, anyways. He got up and made breakfast, ate and left. It was a Saturday. He didn't know if he was gonna do a picnic. So instead, he decided to talk to Tsunade.

"Tsunade-Sama?"

"Enter. Hello, Kakashi. What brings you here?"

"Tsunade-Sama, I've come to talk about the limitations regarding our missions? I think our team is ready for another mission B or higher."

"Kakashi, I'm keeping every team of your skill at C and under. This is what happens when we have peace, an absence of danger. You should accept our current status."

"With all due respect, Tsunade-Sama, is this truly peace? What about Sasuke? And the Akatsuki-"

"Kakashi. Look around. Sasuke may not be here, and the Akatsuki may still stand, but I'm talking about our village. We haven't had a war in some time, and that's okay. I'm only sending B rank missions and higher to the best of the best, not a team of two chunin and a genin."

"I understand. Thank you, Tsunade-Sama." Kakashi was already halfway out the door when Tsunade interrupted.

"Wait, Kakashi," She said, smiling. "I don't want to see you stressing about missions. Take a break, maybe even a vacation out of the village. That's an order." Kakashi smiled and waved.

"Working on it."

"Well, Kakashi, she's right. You should be loving this break and relaxing. You work hard." Asuma lit his cigarette.

"It doesn't feel right. I should be working, doing something."

"First of all, you're rich. Stupid rich. You've done 42 S rank missions, three more than the Fourth Hokage, and all of that alone gives you at least 1,000,000 ryo per mission (100,000 USD, so at least 4,200,000 USD in total). You can retire right now if you want. Many jonin don't live to 29 like you are right now."

"I'm not retiring, that's for sure. And what about you? Why shouldn't you retire? You're 30." Asuma couldn't say he made promises to keep. Kakashi did, too. He couldn't use Niju Shotai as an excuse, Kakashi had excuses and expectations like that, too.

"Yamato or Gai would tell you the same thing. Honestly, you could become a farmer that makes a sanctuary for all the ninken, maybe even a cow or two, and I wouldn't care. Heck, you could write your own Icha Icha and try to get everyone to read it, or donate 50% of your income to an organization that sets forests on fire and  I still wouldn't care."

"Knowing me and knowing you, that doesn't really say a lot." Asuma shrugged.

"As long as you don't die or something, or join the Akatsuki, I think I won't care as much. The point is, you should do something."

"I don't know what to do."

"You could host parties or go to them, start a real farm with Yamato and the ramen guy, what's his name? Teuchi?" Kakashi nodded. "Hey, you could work there, or sell your own food, you could help Iruka with his kids, I don't suggest you start smoking. Take a vacation if you're so stressed about everything. Go to the hot springs with Gai. And the bar's always open."

"What are you gonna do?"

"Take it slow. But I'm not gonna pass up any parties and stuff like that."

"Yeah, that sounds good, I guess. But it's gets boring."

"You have Gai, Yamato, Anko, Iruka, Genma, Raido, Izumo, Hayate, Kurenai, me, your team, probably even some other people I haven't named. Join them, invite them, hang out. You shouldn't just read those books the whole time." Asuma smiled. "If you still want something demanding, time consuming and stressful, you could always ask someone out."

"Everyone knows you're dating Kurenai, Asuma."

"No, I'm not!" Asuma said quickly. "Anyways, even with half a face, every girl in the village wants you. I'm not saying take advantage of that, but..."

"If I had a girlfriend, she'd be killed by one of my enemies the next day."

"You and I both know that's not true. Look around. You got a lot of options, just be careful."

"I bet you're thinking about Kurenai right now."

"Shut up and get a girlfriend already."

"I'm already in a relationship."

"Yeah, right. I bet you're dating your pillow."

"Well, it's secret, unlike you and Kurenai." Kakashi snickered.

"I won't believe it until I see it."

"You're just jealous my relationship is secret." Asuma smiled.

"I don't believe it. Earlier you said if you had a girlfriend she'd be killed the next day."

"We're not public about it, and they're also a skilled jonin. Plus, I didn't believe Kurenai would date someone like you, at first." Asuma pouted, making Kakashi laugh.

"You got a secret girlfriend? Unlike you, Hatake."

"I wouldn't be surprised if you ditched me right now to go hang out with Kurenai." They both laughed. I guess it was really Yamato who brought them closer to each other. They didn't talk like this before.
