"Shoot! It's already 8:00!" shrieked Hazel.

Yesterday night was supposed to be spent in serious study, however, it's common for the mind to waste time in procrastination rather than constructive work. There was only fifteen minutes left to get ready to school and she had to hurry up. It was definite that she was going to be late. She gathered everything she needed and sped to the bathroom.

After getting ready, she rushed down the stairs.

"Have your breakfast, honey," Kyungsoo's mother said. She too was busy getting ready for work.

"I'll skip it for today aunty, I'm running late. Thanks," she frenzied out of the house.

Worst part of it all was how Kyungsoo had left the house before her. She just couldn't believe that he had done this. He would be the kind of person to study with her late night, come to her room to wake her up at 6:00 am with a warm cup of coffee, do some revision and leave together for school. Their rooms were just a few feet apart.

Something's definitely wrong with Kyungsoo, she thought.

Of all the days, the traffic today was at its peak. She sat in the car with the worry of not being able to attend an important test. With each passing moment, her hopes kept diminishing. No matter how much she wished, it was impossible to stop time. She raced through the school corridor and reached her class exactly half an hour late for the test.

Mr. Oh noticed her at the door. "How could you be so irresponsible ?" he asked, standing out of the class. He kept his voice low in order to not disturb the others writing the exam.

Hazel trembled in anxiety. This test was important to her. Her body showed signs of fatigue, her eyes were puffy from crying and with a shaky voice, she looked into his eyes, "Sir, there was a lot of traffic and I'm lately not feeling well."

Mr. Oh didn't utter a word. He pushed back the glasses that slipped down the bridge of his nose and signalled her to come in. He handed over the paper to her. Having had the reputation of being a very strict teacher, he never allowed late comers even during normal classes. Despite Hazel being late for an important test, he still showed signs of sympathy and that was definitely strange.

As she walked over to her seat, she glanced at Kyungsoo who didn't bother to even notice her. His sudden change of demeanour was quite hurtful. On the other hand, Chanyeol kept stealing glances at her.

He smiled at her and whispered, "all the best," showing a thumbs up.

Throughout the test, she couldn't focus. Painful thoughts crowded her mind. Besides, she couldn't complete the paper owing to the lack of time. Eventually, the test went awful.

During the break time, it was common for students to leave the class and head out to the canteen or playground or somewhere else: out of the class. There would barely be anyone sitting in the classroom. She usually tagged along with Kyungsoo but this time she wondered if she should even approach him. She still had a ray of hope that he would come to her and ask, "Hey! How was the test?" And console her if she said it was bad. However, she was wrong.
