Training Buddies

You walked up through your training arena that your parents enlisted you in a couple of years ago. You had been working there ever since junior high began and thus knew it pretty well. Your quirk was absorption. You were able to touch any surface and turn your body into that substance to help you fight. You normally did this with steel or crystals and other hard surfaces. However, there was a limit of course. You could only hold it for ten minutes plus, your body could be easily destroyed.

Aside from that, you still enjoyed your power. When you finished walking through the main field, you saw the top student here, Momo Yaoyorozu. She was a genius with an ultra powerful quirk: Creation. You two had known one another for years and in doing so, built up a strong friendship with each other. She finished making several Russian nesting dolls to practice her quirk then she saw you. She gave you a smile which you smiled back at her.

Yaoyorozu: (Y/N)! It's good to see you!

(Y/N): Likewise Mo-

Yaoyorozu hugged you. You were taken aback a bit but you slowly began to hug her back. It was a bit odd to you since you both weren't that close but still. After she broke the hug, you stared at her. However, she just acted like normal.

(Y/N): So...how have things been?

Yaoyorozu: Great! Been working on my quirk. (She glances backwards) Some scouts from UA are here too. They've been talking about giving some people recommendations!

(Y/N): Well...that's cool.

Yaoyorozu: Cool? It's amazing! They believe people here can be pros like that!

(Y/N): Momo. Calm down. Look, I got work to do.

Yaoyorozu: Oh, sorry. Maybe we could train together?

(Y/N): Sure. Don't see why not.

You and Yaoyorozu walked over to an arena and entered some stances. You kneeled down and absorbed the concrete, becoming a living cinder block. You stood back up and cracked your knuckles. Yaoyorozu stood opposite you, already in her own stance. You both knew each other way to well, your strengths and your weaknesses. You raised your fists and slowly began to dance around the edge of the arena. Yaoyorozu slowly walked opposite of you.

You then ran in and began to throw some punches. Yaoyorozu was able to dodge a few and created a bo staff and blocked your next punch. You went in for a kick but Yaoyorozu blocked it and spun around you. You then grabbed her bo staff and absorbed the metal it was made out of. You then threw her over your back and crashed her down onto the ground. You turned around to punch the ground. However, once you did, she rolled over and a spring was in her place. Your fist hit and bounced it right back to your face.

(Y/N): Right. Sometimes brute force isn't the best option.

You looked up and saw that Yaoyorozu made a cannon and had it aimed right at you. Your eyes widen a bit and you took a step back.

(Y/N): You wouldn't-

You stopped once you heard a clicking sound. You looked down and saw that there was another spring right below your foot. You looked back at Yaoyorozu and saw her smile. Realization slowly began to hit you.

(Y/N): Once again, leave it to your strategies.

Yaoyorozu just shrugged and pressed a button on a detonator and launched the spring up and you out of the arena. You landed on your back and winced a bit. You slowly rolled onto your back and gripped right where your back made contact with the ground. You then turned around and saw Yaoyorozu standing there with a light smile on her face.
