“It's safe to hide things, don't you think?” asked Luke.

“What's wrong about sharing it with me? I mean, what's there to hide about your mother's murder.” replied Cassidy looking concerned.

“Don't try to dig deep into everything when you are warned not to.” replied Luke and then got up and walked across the room.

“But you can trust me. I won't be going around telling people about it.” replied Cassidy literally begging him to tell the story.

“Come.” said Luke and opened the door. Then, he signalled her to go out by showing it by bending his head towards the door.

“Where are we going?” asked Cassidy feeling curious and a bit scared.

“Down stair, of course.” replied Luke and went down the flight of stairs which leads to the living room.

Luke went close to a table afterwards, where drinks were laid and picked up a paper cup which was filled with orange juice. Then he pointed to another table where some short eats and sweets are laid.

“Here.” said Luke and gave the paper cup to Cassidy.

“What is it?” asked Cassidy looking down at the paper cup after Luke hand it over to her.

“It's orange juice. Not poison, dear.” replied Luke and smiled at her.

Cassidy took a sip to taste whether she would like it.

“Wow, it's nice.” said Cassidy, trying hard not to smack her lips.

“Thank you. I made it.” replied Luke with a wide smile drawn across his face.

“Hope I won't get a tummy problem after drinking this.” said Cassidy teasing Luke.

“I can guarantee that you won't have anything. I'm a really good cook.” replied Luke.

“Didn't anyone ever have diarrhoea?” asked Cassidy still teasing Luke.

“What? No.” replied Luke kind of surprised to hear Cassidy asking a weird question which sounds so weird.

After a short pause between them Luke started to speak again. “Nope. I am the one who always cooks after my ma died.”

“Wow! Then I would like to taste your food one day. It must be yummy.” replied Cassidy, joking about the fact that she wants to eat.

“I could give something now. If you like I can give noodles. I made it a few minutes before you came. So it's still kind of fresh one.” replied Luke happily at the thought of Cassidy having eager to eat the food he has made.

“But, I don't want what you prepared to eat. Go ahead and have it. You must be starving now.” replied Cassidy, trying hard to be polite and not to offend him.

“Oh, it's okay. I actually made it for Gerald and Rosie. But there is no sign of them wanting to have it now.” replied Luke.

Cassidy detected his disappointment and sadness from the tone he spoke. She felt sorry for him.

“Are you sure that they won't mind if I have it?” asked Cassidy taking advantage of the situation.

“Sure, come on in.” said Luke and showed her the way into the kitchen.

Luke heated up by placing it inside the microwave. Then he laid the table by placing a table mat and a fork for Cassidy to eat with while it was getting heated up.

“Oh, you made noodle! Finally!” said a female voice making both Cassidy and Luke turn around to see who was speaking.

“But I was about to give it to Cassidy.” replied Luke still holding the plate after taking it out of the microwave.

“Hello! Who came first? I did. So you give it to me.” said Rosie and snatched the plate from Luke's hand.

What the hell is wrong with her? Can't she just politely ask it from him? Poor Luke! Can't believe that he has to put up with her. No manners at all and filled with bad attitudes. Thought Cassidy.

“Luke, why don't you go and stay near the front door. Welcome all the guests.” said Gerald demanding.

“Okay.” said Luke in a low voice. “Are you coming, Cass?” asked Luke.

“How dare you call her that? Learn to respect a girl. Hop hop. I have something to tell her.” said Gerald harshly at Luke, looking with eyes which looks like fire and anger popping out of it.

The only one who has to work on it is you, Gerald. How dare you put me down like that in front of Cassidy? But then there is nothing we can do. Thought Luke while marching angrily to the front door.

“Cassidy, sorry about that. He won't listen unless you treat him a bit harsh. If you girls were not here then he would have pointed a knife at me by now.” said Gerald justifying his action.

Cassidy couldn't believe that she heard something like that. Up to now she realised that threatening or screaming at Luke is not necessary. So Cassidy looked confused which was quite visible for both Gerald and Rosie.

“It's true. I have seen it.” replied Rosie assuring that what Gerald said was true.

“Cassidy, can you come with me for a minute. I want to ask you something.” said Gerald.

Gerald led her to a room near the kitchen which looked more like a lumber room, but Cassidy was not sure about it. Then he closed the door behind them so that no one can hear.

“What do you want to tell me?” asked Cassidy impatiently.

“Well, it's kind of private, so be honest with me. Okay?” asked Gerald, looking at her face as if he is searching for something.

“What is it?” asked Cassidy shortly.

“Would you like to be my date for prom?” asked Gerald.
