I stared at the newspaper in front of me, familiar handwriting on a letter tucked under it as I quickly read the headlines. Death eaters had wrecked havoc in muggles in London, they'd even broken a bridge. I stared at the photos of Diagonal Alley, being taken back to when I was in just first year and I'd bumped into Hermione on accident when we were both looking for animals. I swallowed harshly as I shivered. It was so awful to see something like this happening, just before school started up. My stomach sank as the newspaper was ripped from my hands, Ginny looked at me in annoyance.
"You heard what mum said, no reading the Daily Prophet. It only puts bad things in your mind." She said and folded it over and placed it to the side. She was right, every time I saw the news or even read the paper. I'd start to panic even more.
"Yeah, I guess your rights. It's just hard sometimes to get your mind out of the tabloids." I said and Ginny nodded, staring down at a photo of Harry. "Why don't you tell him that you like him?" I asked and she looked up at me quickly. I started to open my letter and she shook her head.
"Why don't you tell your penpal that you like him, I've seen you reading those letters. Smiling to yourself." Ginny said and I smirked and shook my head, but before I could even read the letter, it was snatched out of my hands.
"Dear Eurydice." George began to read as him and Fred entered the room followed by Ron.
"George no!" I yelled as I tried to grab for the letter but he simply just ran around the table. He cleared his throat and started again.
"Dear Eurydice. I hope you've had a good summer, mines wasn't the best, but I don't think it's something I should speak on. Your cat seems to be visiting me I think, I keep seeing a black cat outside of the house and I know you said that Oscar kept going missing, so I presume it's him. Oh and by the way, I know you don't want to talk about it. But everything's that's happening, don't worry. As always, Draco... Malfoy." George trailed off at the end, dropping the jokey voice as the pisstake. The whole room went silent and I sunk into my chair.
"Draco Malfoy!" Ron yelled and I sighed and shook my head. "You're buddying up with Draco Malfoy!" He yelled and I shook my head.
"That's a slippery slope to start on, Maggie." Fred said sitting next to me and I shook my head yet again.
"It's not like that, I promise. We just sometimes send letters to each other, no strings attacked at all." I said and Ron just stared at me and shook his head. I sighed and made my way upstairs, placing my letter into the pile that had collected by my head.
"Ah Eurydice dear, how are you this morning?" Mrs Weasley asked and she entered my room with fresh clothes.
"Do you ever think about what's going to happen?" I asked her and she turned to me. "If this is really the end?" I asked and she shook her head, quickly making her way over to me and sitting down.
"There's a lot of powerful witches and wizards out there who won't watch Hogwarts fall." She assured new, holding my hands in her own. I nodded with a smile and she hugged me.
"Eurydice! George and Hermione are here!" Ginny called up the stairs and I was quick to run out of the room, Mrs Weasley laughing after me. I threw my arms around both of my friends when I seen them, making them both stumble back in shock but hug me back quickly.
"I'm so happy to see you both." I said and they both returned the love. When I pulled sway, Ron hugged the pair as well and we all stood in the kitchen just happy to be all here.
"Ah a full house, how lovely." Mr Weasley said as he entered his own home. We all chuckled and Mrs Weasley decided to get lunch going for us all.
"Have you heard from Harry?" Hermione asked both Ron and I bud we shook our heads.
"No but she's heard from Malfoy." He scoffed and I rolled my eyes and shook my head.
"Can you just drop it, Ronald. It's not as if I'm dating the guy, geez." I said and shook my head. Hermione and George shared a look of confusion while Ginny, Fred and George shared a knowing look.
"Are Remus and Tonks coming by tonight dear?" Mrs Weasley questioned and I shook my head.
"No, their coming to see me away at the train station." I said and she nodded. We sat around and talked in the afternoon, trying our best to not bring up the topic of anything else that was happening. Everyone went back to what they were doing before and George and I went to my room.
"So what's happening with Helios and you?" I asked as I flopped back on my bed, he flopped won next to me and I looked at him.
"We went on a few dates, that's all really. He's started to get really worried about what's happening right now. But he's just the same. I think he thinks we're dating but I can't be certain." George shrugged and I sighed.
"He's always likes you, even when we were kids." I said and he looked at me.
"What about you and Malfoy?" He asked and I rolled my eyes and scoffed standing up from the bed.
"Let me guess, Ron told you?" I asked and he nodded. "Nothings going in between Malfoy and I,'I can swear it. I had a bit of a breakdown before the summer and he comforted me. We've sent letters back and forth, but most of them about the fact that Oscar keeps going missing." I said and sag back down. "I think he misses Sirius." I whispered crying looking down at my hands. George looked at me with minor shock in his eyes.
"This is the first time you've spoken about him since the start of summer." George said and I shrugged.
