I stared off into space as I sat in the library. I'd been doing my best to avoid Harry and the others, the only one of my friends I'd really spoken to was George. I didn't want to have to tell them about Draco, the curse on his arm haunted me day and night. I tried to get it out of my mind, but I couldn't stop thinking about the awful thing on his pale arm. I shivered as I stared down at my own arm, scars littered it from scratches from Oscar over the year, but it of course matched nothing like what was happening. I'd only met with Draco a few times since the night at the astronomy, I tried my best to tell him it was going to be okay, but I wasn't sure anymore. A letter sat next to me unopened and Oscar sat on the chair next to me, waiting for me to open it. I sighed and gave in, rolling my eyes the car who meowed at me.
'Dear Eurydice
It's always nice to see the snow, that's when I know it's getting closer to Christmas. Although not my favourite holiday, I had began to enjoy it when you were present. I know you always loved Christmas and I have a feeling that this year it'll be a good Christmas. Your brother has written a few letters to me over the weeks, more than I'd gotten from yourself so I was beginning to worry. Even Harry wrote a letter to say you had been distancing yourself from him and the others. But please, speak to me about what's going on in your mind. I hope you are well and keeping warm.Forever
Moony'I closed my eyes and placed my forehead on the table, taking a deep breathe before deciding it would be best to join my friends at the three broomsticks. I grabbed my books and picked up Oscar, holding him as I walked back to my room to grab my jacket and change I to another jumper. I kissed him on the head and letter him before making my way towards the three broomsticks. As I was about to walk in, Draco stepped in front of me and I looked up at him confused.
"You're cold." He said and I looked at him confused. I looked at myself and noticed I wasn't wearing my jacket that I'd picked up, but must have placed down when I kissed Oscar. I watched as he shrugged off his jacket.
"Draco, no. You'll be cold." I said shaking my head and stepping back, but he just shoved the jacket further in my direction.
"Just take it before I withdraw my offer." He said, a hint of annoyance in his voice. I sighed and took the jacket, he was a lot taller than me so it was longer on me. But I didn't much mind, he nodded to me before disappearing again around the back of the pub again. I sighed and shook my head, I made my way into the pub but was stopped suddenly by Professor Slughorn.
"Ah yes, Miss Watson. Oh how delightful to see you, I taught your mother and father in my class. Two of my favourite students." Slughorn said with a smile and I just smiled at him. I could see Ron look at my jacket and then turn to Harry, but I couldn't figure out what he was saying before Slughorn began speaking again. "Your brother is coming to to my supper that I am hosting, oh do say you'd join him." Professor Slughorn asked and I tighough for a second but smiled and nodded.
"I'd love to sir." I said and he nodded. Quickly, I managed to worm my way away from the conversation and over to my friends.
"A fire whiskey please." I asked the bartender and he smiled and nodded, Ron looked up at me confused.
"Fire whiskey? You've never drank fire whiskey." He said and I rolled my eyes.
"Yes I have, you don't know what George and I do when I'm not staying at home." I said and Ron looked at me with wide eyes and I sat back in my chair, realising what I'd said.
"You think of it as home?" He asked me softly. But the moment was interrupted as the man placed a fire whiskey in front of me and I thanked him silently, gently tapping my glass on the table I threw the drink into my mouth and swallowed it immediately. The three of my friends watched in shock.
"Bloody hell Eurydice." Ron gaped and I just rolled my eyes as I began to drink my butterbear which the bartender had given me also.
"So, I'm guessing you got Moonys letter?" Harry asked and I nodded. We didn't speak anymore on it and when I finally finished my butter beer, we decided to make our way back to the school. I walked beside Hermione as she talked about how much men annoyed her and how clueless they were, I knew she was on about Ron. He was talking about her also. The sound of someone yelling at another made me look up as Hermione made her way in between the boys, draping her arms around them and asking them what's up. My eyes widen as I rush over to Katie Bell who was floating in the air, her hair dancing in the wind as she seemed to be possessed. And then she screams, making the boys run up with me, Katie begins to thrash around in the air and I watch in horror. Harry and Ron grab her ankles as they hold her in place.
"I warned her! I warned her not to touch it!" Leanne yelled as she panicked for her friend. Hermione and I tried to soothe her. I look around to see a torn package on the floor.
"Harry, she's swallowing her tongue-" Ron panicked and I looked at Hermione who looked at me.
"I'll get someone-" Hermione said about to walk away but I grabbed her arm.
"There's no time!" Harry yelled as I held Leanne by my side in comfort. She cried as she watched her friend. Then, Hagrid jumps out from the forest.
"Get back! All o' yeh!" He yells forcefully and we all quickly jump back. He gently pulls the girl down from the air and gently soothes her, slowly her screaming turns to silence and her body goes limp. "Don' go touchin' th-' but by the wrappins. Understan'?" Hagrid asked us and we all nodded. We all go to McGonagall's office with the package which Harry has wrapped in his scarf.
"You're sure Katie did not have this in her possession when she entered the three broomsticks, Leanne?" McGonagall questioned.
"It's like I said, she went to the loo and when she came back she had the package. She said it was important she deliver it." Leanne explained and I shivered slightly. Looking at George who had met us in the hallway on our way here.
"Did she say to whom?" McGonagall questioned but Leanne shook her head. "Alright Leanne. You may go." She said dismissing the girl before turning to us. "Why is it always you five? Hm? When something happens?" The woman questioned, seeming tired by our presence.
"Believe me Professor, I've been asking myself the same question for six years." Ron admitted and I rolled my eyes.
"Severus." McGonagall greets as the man enters the room.
"Is this it?" He asks looking at the necklace. She nods and he uses his want to pick it up, examining it closely.
"What do you think?" Professor McGonagall asks Snape.
"I think Miss Bell is lucky to be alive." He comments and I swallow harshly, wondering who would do such a thing.
"She was cursed, wasn't she? I know Katie. Off the Quidditch pitch she wouldn't hurt a fly. If she was bringing that to someone, she wasn't doing it knowingly." Harry explains and I looked at George who nodded.
"Yes. She was cursed." McGonagall admits and without even a second though, Harry opens his big mouth.
"It was Malfoy." He blurts out and I look at him with wide eyes.
"Harry!" I say rather loudly, earning a few confused glances from my friends and even McGonagall. Harry looks at me and I look away in annoyance.
"That's a very serious accusation, Potter." The woman informs him and Snape steps forward.
"Indeed. Your evidence?" He questioned and Harry swallows harshly.
"I... just... know." He answered and I rolled my eyes.
"You... just... know. Once again you astonish with your gifts, Potter, gifts mere mortals could only dream of possessing. How grand it must be to be the chosen one." Snape said sarcastically and I just rolled my eyes at how childish he could be. "Oh and Miss Watson, enough of the eye rolling before your eyes fall out of your head." He said and I just huffed.
"I suggest you return to your dormitories, all of you." McGonagall said eyeing up George and I to. I walk out first, ignoring the calls of my friends behind me.
