We stand o the steps at the entrance of Hogwarts, tears fall down my face as I watch Hagrid carry Harry in his arms. Draco holds my hands, not looking at his parents as they eye him on the step. Instead he stares at the boy he'd hated all these, but now saw as a friend. Ginny had broken down, I could see Hermione and Ron's heartbreak. Helios held George to his chest and the students mourned the boy that lived. Tears fell from my eyes onto my top, there was no other emotion other than pain. Remus and Tonks were nowhere to be seen, so I mourned them as well, unsure if they were gone or not.
"Tell me. These last few hours, as you collected the dead and tended your wounded. Was he by your side?" Voldemort questioned us all. I watched as he spoke, disgusted by every inch of him. Draco looked at him in disgust, I looked at his mother, she seemed glad just to see him alive. "So do not cry for that. He's not worthy of your tears. And do not despair of his betrayal. You were never in his heart. Not for one single solitary beat." He spoke and I shook my head.
"Liar!" Ron yelled, pain in his tone.
"Did you not hear me! Harry Potter is dead! From this day forward, you put your faith in me or suffer the consequences. Harry Potter is dead!" He yells. Draco's hand tightens around my own. "Now is the time to declare yourself." Everyone around us mumbles and I looked at Draco who looked at me.
"Draco..." Lucius Malfoy called over to his son, Draco looked to his father, his grip on my hand staying tight. "Draco, don't be stupid-" Lucius said again. But then Narcissa steps forward. "Draco, come." She tells him. His grip loosened on my hand, he looks back at me once more before making his way to his mother. My heart sinks as people stare at me. As he walks past Ron, Ron mumbles something to him and I make my way beside Helios. He takes my hand in his own and we stare ar the death eaters who eye us up, knowing who our father was, it was only fate for us to be the same. We all watch as Neville steps forwards, the death eaters making a joke of him, but he was strong.
"I'd like to say something." Neville addressed and I shared an unsure look with Helios.
"Very well, Neville. I'm sure we'd all be fascinated to hear what you have to say." Voldemort grants him permission to speak.
"It doesn't matter that Harry is gone." He started off, making everyone around us erupt in murmurs, Seamus tried to stop Neville but Ron tugged him back. "People die every day. Friends. Family. Yes, we lost Harry tonight. But he's still with us, here..." Neville taps his heart and I struggle to hold back tears "And so is everyone else we lost tonight. They didn't die in vain." Neville told us all, but turned to Bellatrix. "But you will. And you and you and you will." He looked at every death eater before turning to Voldemort. "And so will you. Because you are wrong. Harry's heart did beat for us. All of us." Neville took a step back and we all watched in amazement as he reached into the sorting hat. "This isn't over." He warned as he pulled out the Sword of Gryffindor from the hat. Voldemort fires as Neville, but he deflected the shot, sending it into a group of death eaters. And then suddenly Harry rolled out of Hagrid's arms.
"Potter!" Draco yelled as he threw Harry his wand, running to my side again as Harry grabbed he wand.
"Well done Malfoy!" Ron cheers, Draco sending him a quick smile before pulling out his wand. Draco and I make our way into the great hall and split up to assist our peers. It feels like a constant use of magic as I send spells wiring towards any death eater insight, I spot Ginn, fighting off Bellatrix alone.
"So much wasted potential, you were always stronger than Draco," Bellatrix spoke as I fired at her but she deflected both Ginny and I's spells. Bellatrix fires back, her shot going in between Ginny and I, almost getting us both.
"Not my daughters, you bitch!" Molly Weasley yells as she pushes Ginny and me out of the way. She parries with Bellatrix.
"Come on granny, give us your best." Bellatrix patronises. Ginny and I watch as Molly Weasley fights of Bellatrix. Bill, George and Mr Weasley jump forward to aid but Molly shakes her head.
"Back off, boys! She's mine!" She calls. "You will never touch my children again," Molly warns. Bellatrix is just about to bite back, but a green bolt of light emerges from the end of Molly Weasley's wand, silencing Bellatrix forever. I look at George, a glint of pain in his eyes and I immediately wonder when Fred is. Draco and I make eye contact from across the great hall and we look out the doors of the great hall to see a massive amount of light. George and Helios run after us and we stand at the top of the steps, watching as Nagini follows after Ron and Hermione. As the snake is about to strike, Neville raises his sword, severing the head of the serpent. We watch as Voldemort drops his wand, Harry's spell hitting him in the chest. Voldemort takes one last look at Harry before crumbling to his death.
"It's over," I whisper and immediately Helios brings me into a hug. We look around the grounds of the school and my heart falters as I think about Moony. "Remus," I whispered, I raced back into the school, looking around as everyone mourned. My gaze fell on a familiar man, he was bent over in pain.
"Remus!" I yelled. People watched as I ran towards the man, Tonks by his sie, tending to his injuries. I raced over to him, hugging him tight as I broke down. "You're okay, I thought you died." I sobbed. He held me close to him, rubbing my back.
"I'm so glad you are alright." He whispered. I pulled away and Remus looked up at Draco. He gently patted the boys face, Draco smiled at him through tears. "I'm glad you're alright too, son," Remus told him. Draco broke down, tears fell down his face and Remus stood, hugging the boy to his chest. I turned to see Helios comforting George who looked around at all the bodies. I left Draco and Remus, making my way over to the Weasleys. They were all crowded around a body, my heart immediately sunk. Ron turned back to me and pulled me over, I looked down at the injured Fred.
"Idiot went and himself down to 3 limbs." George joked, I looked at the nub that used to be Fred's leg and smiled, shaking my head. Fred smiled at me and I just leaned down, kissing him on the forehead. I turned around as I stood up. my gas falling on Harry who looked around at his friends. I made my way over to him, his gaze met mines.
"Do you think you'll come back next year?" Harry asked and I swallowed harshly. Both of us looked over at Draco and Helios who were conversing. I nodded my head.
"I've decided I want to be a teacher," I told him and he looked at me slightly confused. "Dumbledore and I spoke about it before he passed, I'd decided on defence against the dark arts," I told Harry, he looked at me and smiled.
"I think you'd do amazing." He told me and I smiled. We shared a hug before I walked over to George. He looked at me with a sad smile.
"I don't think I'll come back next year, Helios and I were looking at travelling." He told me and I smiled and nodded. "I think getting away from here would be a good idea." He told me and I looked at him.
"I think travelling will suit you well, "I told him. He smiled at me sadly and pulled me into a tight hug.
"Will you and Draco come back?" He asked, I nodded. Not being able to see us anywhere else. He nodded off in the direction of Draco who was looking over at me with a smile. "Better go get your man." He told me and I nodded and made my way over to Draco. His parents sat off to the side, watching us both. He placed his hands on my face and pulled me into a passionate kiss. When he pulled away, I looked at him in shock.
"I love you, Eurydice." He told me, looking me directly in the eyes. I smiled looking at him with love.
"I love you too, my dear," I whispered. He pulled me into a hug and we stood like that, for a long time.
