Chapter 30
Aqua’s POV
I missed Angel. Talking and thinking about him all day did not help. I wanted him here teasing me, or hold me . . . I just wanted him with me.
I was sitting on my large pillow-of-a-bed, in a nighttime gown. It was bright blue as usual. It had straps over my shoulders and was low cut. It was cut in on the sides – in the front a back – so there was just a strip of cloth holding the top to the bottom. It hung low on my waist and the stitching was done with silver thread. The bottom was a skirt that was very loose and went to my ankles. I was comfortable and easily to move in. My hair was down as usual. I had my silver crown set into my hair. It was thin and dainty. I was wearing the usual bracelets and ankle bands. I jingled whenever I moved. I wasn’t quiet ready to fall asleep yet so I hadn’t taken off my jewelry yet.
I stood and walked across my large room. It wasn’t fair. I wanted him here! I wanted him with me.
“Princess,” My guard burst through my door, “You must stay in here.”
“Anon, what’s wrong?” I demanded confused.
“Just stay in here . . . Princess!” I turned as he was talking and rushed to my balcony.
I waved my hands in front of me and the curtains blew open violently. Here, being home on the island I couldn’t help but use my powers. I stepped out on to the balcony and looked down over the front of the palace.
The guards out there we fighting something off. Someone off.
“Princess,” Anon grabbed me.
“We are being attacked and you think you can hold me in my room?” I demanded.
“Princess . . . Aqua, please,” He begged.
With a wave of my hand, I had wind blow him back into my room then I jumped up on my balcony railing and jumped down.
I brought a tree closer to me and landed in it silently.
“Let me in!” A voice demanded.
That voice! So familiar! My heart lifted.
“No, no vampires are even supposed to be on the island,” The guard that was holding him growled.
“You are breaking royal laws and the penalty for that is death,” Another guard standing around raised a wooden stake above his head.
“No!” I jumped down from the tree kicking the stake from his hand and land in a couch beside them.
“Princess, you shouldn’t be down here,” A guard responded shocked.
“Release him,” I growled standing slowly.
“Princess,” The guard gasped.
“He is not just any vampire he is royalty. Now release him. I don’t want to hurt you,” I demanded.
Get him out of here! Grab him and run! The panicky voice in the back of my head continued to repeat.
I kept my clam exterior and focused on my guards, not the look on Gabriel’s face. I couldn’t face him yet. Not until I knew we were both safe and I knew what the hell he was doing here. His face and voice was so similar to Angel’s it nearly killed me.
“No, Princess, he must be taken to your father,” The guard turned and away and forced Angel up the front steps.
“Gabriel,” I breathed then I hurried after them.
