Chapter 23: Why me?

ANNIKA'S POV

"Jack----" I cut off and started bursting to tears. 

"Im really sorry. I dont remember anything." Jack looked worried.

"I know. We'll leave you be." Joe said for me and we moved to Finn's room.  He was already sitting up. He looked a lot better than Jack.

"Annika!" Finn said. I ran and hugged him. I started crying more. "Its ok Annika. Im alright."

"It-Its just.......Jack doesnt remember me....." I cried more.

"No......" Finn said his eyes glisting with tears. I nodded. He hugged me tighter. 

"I-Im just glad your ok. I think that he will remember soon." Finn hugged me again and kissed the top of my head.

"Do you know if mom and dad are ok?" Finn asked.

"I was just about to check." I smiled and left the room. When I was about to enter the last 2 rooms, which are connected a lady came to me. 

"Are you Chad and Julia's daughter?" She asked looking at me not even acknologing Joe.

"Yes I am."  I replied.

"Im so sorry. Please. Come with me."  I was so confused but I followed and Joe held my hand tight. We were inside an office now. 

"Whats wrong?" I asked.

"Please. Take a seat." Joe and I both sat down.

"Your parents....they....passed." She said. All these thougts were going through my mind. Jack doesnt remember anything and my parents are dead. I really only have Finn and Joe now.

"No they didnt!" I yelled.

"Please.....calm down." She tried to comfort me.

"Stop saying please!" I was so irratated and upset. I started crying and I leaned into Joe.

"Shhhhh....Shhhhh....." Joe comforted me. "Can we have a moment please?" Joe asked the lady.

"Of course. I'll be back." She left the room. The only sound was of me crying my eyes out.

"Why Joe? Why me? Why does all this have to happen to me?" I cried.

"It has nothing to do with you. Its terrible but your parents will still be with you." Joe replied.

"But one out of my only 2 brothers doesnt even remember me."

"I know.....I know......Im sure he will remember you."

"I hope so." I continued crying until I fell asleep in Joe's arms. 

When I woke up I was in Jacks room. I was on a lounge chair. 

"Annika? Are you awake?" It was Jack speaking.

"Jack?" I asked sitting up.

"Yeah? How are you?"

"Well, our parents are dead and you dont remember me. So great!" 

"Annika....."

"No Jack.....I dont understand. When will you remember me?"

"Annika....I do. I remember you. Joe showed me some old videos with you in it. Then he showed some pictures and I remembered everything. I remembered you, Finn, Mom, Dad, Joe......Everything! I remember going to your house then leaving and getting in a crash. Joe helped me remember."

"Jack." I said. I hugged him tight as he hugged back. We just sat there for a bit crying into eachothers arms. Even if my parents are dead I know they are proud of me and how well I am handling everything.

Later that evening Joe and I returned home. I was about to film another video about what has happened. Jack and Finn agreed to let me do this. I had Joe sit behind the camera as I got started.

"Hello everyone! Its time for a new video. I know I havent posted in a long time but theres been a lot going on. I havent exactly told you guys about many of these things either. So....to start, Joe and I got engaged and moved in together. Then I wasnt speaking to my parents for a long time because they didnt agree with me moving in with Joe. Then, I finally started talking to them and they came over with Jack and Finn of course. But when they left they ended up getting in a terrible car wreck." I started choking up but Joe was nodding his head at me telling me to continue. I smiled.

"So I went to visit them at the hospital. I went to see Jack first. When I walked in he didnt remember who I was or anything about me. I was so upset so I went to see Finn. He was in much better condition and was sitting up talking. As I went to see my parents....." I stopped as tears were falling now.

"My, my parents had died. They will never see me and Joe's wedding, they will never see me grow up,  and they will never see there grandchildren. But Im going to get off that subject now. But I had fallen asleep and Joe carried me to Jack's room. When I woke up Jack was trying to talk to me. He ended up remembering me. I am so greatful for that. But Im going to wrap things up here. Jack will probably post a vlog with Finn sooner than later. But see you next week.....bye." I smiled to the camera and Joe turned it off.  Joe came to me. He was crying. I gave him a hug to comfort him but I started crying to. We ended up laying on the floor in tears. We were stopped by a knock at the bedroom door.

"Did I miss something?" I looked up to see Caspar.  "Your pregnant arent you!" 

"Caspar----" Joe started.

"Dont worry Joe. I wont tell anyone."

"Caspar! We are not pregnant!" 

"I know....Annika is." 

"No......If you hadnt noticed we are upset. If we were pregnant we would both be super happy!" Did Joe mean that? Did he actually want a child?

"Then whats the matter?" Caspar wondered.

"Her family got in a terrible car wreck and her parents passed away." Joe softened his voice a little.

"Oh.....Im so sorry Annika, I didn-----"

"Its ok....." I cut him off. He came over to me and gave me a big hug. Im so grateful to have a friend like Caspar. He is so energetic and funny but so kind and loving. Im also glad that Im surrounded by wonderful people that will help me through this hard time.
