The word 'bland' was a word that was used way to much by Astrid to describe her life, in fact, the meeting with her father, despite being tragic and mildly depressing, was the only exiting thing to happen in the two years that led up to present time. The death of James Moriarty made Astrid Wingham remember how bland her life really was before she met the worlds only consulting criminal. The reason that the time is limited to two years is because of an event taking place that Astrid didn't know to call luck, stalking, fate or just completely by coincidence.
This bizarre fortuity occurred shortly after the return of the great Sherlock Holmes when Astrid was sat eating lunch with Faith and Seb who she had invited round to 'catch up' as it were. Attempting to be the complete opposite of what she was; normal.
"So, how did he do it?" Astrid asked as she shoved a spoonful of spaghetti into her mouth.
"He jumped onto an airbag" Seb chuckled.
"Seriously?" Astrid snorted, "talk about obvious. No fun at all. Anything else?"
"Well-"
"Let me guess, you too are gonna get married?" Astrid glanced at Seb and raised an eyebrow causing Faith to blush wildly.
"U-Um," she stuttered whilst receiving an optimistic look from Astrid. She looked at Seb who was laughing and slowly shaking his head. Astrid rolled her eyes and looked back to her American friend, and urged her to continue, "Someone kidnapped John Watson."
Astrid stopped chewing on her pasta as her eyes widened in shock.
"Who?" She said through her mouthful
"They don't know yet."
"Is he alright?" she queried, causing Seb to frown.
"He's fine." she replied, "It happened on November 5th-"
"You're telling me this now?"
"Sorry?"
"Faith, it's March, nearly April"
"We only just found out about it." She said quickly and Astrid sighed in agreement, "Apparently Sherlock Holmes swooped in and saved the day; pulled him out from underneath a lit bonfire."
"What the fuck!" Astrid said with a raised voice, "Who the hell would do that?"
Seb frowned even more at Astrid's concern.
"Why are you so worried?" he questioned.
"Because he might have died."
"So what?" Seb knitted his brows together, "if it wasn't for Sherlock jumping off that roof, he would have died a long time ago."
Astrid stopped and stuttered.
"O-Oh yeah." she smiled uncomfortably, "Well, it doesn't matter then."
Faith tilted her head and smiled.
"You okay."
"Not really." She sighed, "I think after spending this much time without Jim, I may be turning normal again."
Faith chuckled and smiled, "is that such a bad thing?"
"I guess not." She smiled.
"I think we've all changed," Seb spoke up, "we've both lost someone important to us, I guess it's taking its toll."
"I guess." Astrid said before lifting up the glass of wine beside her as a toast, "to Jim."
Faith and Seb collide what she was doing and together repeated the two words.
"And to being normal." Astrid chuckled causing Seb to scrunch you his nose.
"We better get used to it." Seb nodded his head slowly, "Let's just clarify one thing. We are not on the side of the angels."
"Definitely not!" Astrid smiled.
