Chapter 37

Nicole’s POV

I pull away from Liam and look up to see the boys and Katrina standing at the door. They all look ecstatic, except for Louis who seemed pissed. He always hated not being told when things happened. And I had totally forgotten to call them and tell them Liam was awake, but I had a good reason.

“I was going to tell you guys……………eventually” I say avoiding Louis’ eyes

“well maybe if you hadn’t been so busy snogging Liam’s face off” Louis retorts clearly annoyed

I glare at Louis “I was not”

“she wishes” I hear Niall say apparently finding this hilarious

“says the one WITH – OUT a girlfriend” I say, Niall blushes furiously

“ooooh. You might wanna ice that burn Niall” Zayn laughs

Yeah, you could say that sass ran in the family.

“Well aren’t you going to come in?” Liam says, I breathe out glad that is over.

Everyone’s heads turn towards Liam as if they forgot that he was awake. In a split second everyone rushes over to Liam and crowd around his bed. I step back a little and let them talk to him. I smile as I think about all the talking we’ve been doing. We said I love you to each other for the first time. It was the first time that it actually meant something. I bite my lip to keep form smiling, I cannot be anymore happier.

“Nicole?” Liam’s voice brings me out of my haze.

I blink twice and look up at him

“yeah babe?” I smile

I must have been in space for quite a while because everyone has settled down and is sitting around the bed looking at me. I go sit back in my normal spot, Liam grabs a hold of my hand.

“what were you thinking about?” he says squeezing my hand lightly

I blush a little “you” I can’t help the smile that forms on my lips.

“aww that’s sweet” he smiles shuffling closer to me

My brow creases with worry “Liam what are you -”

I am cut off by his lips pressing softly onto mine. I smile as he pulls away.

“I love you” he grins widely

Blood rushes up into my cheeks “I love you too” I will never get sick of saying that

We stare into each other’s eyes forgetting everyone else in the room.

“you what now?” Katrina squeals excitedly

“yeah” I smile dreamily, still staring at Liam

There was a moment of silence until…

“no seriously, what?” Katrina says

I could barely make out what she was saying as I was still looking into Liam’s mesmerising eyes.

I sigh before reluctantly breaking eye contact.

“I said. I, love, him” I say clearly pointing at Liam

“and I love her” Liam smiles back

“naw you guys are sweet” Kat says

“good for you guys” Zayn smiles

“I am happy for you” Harry says

“congrats” Louis says

“I’m never gonna find anyone” Niall sighs

Everyone bursts out laughing while Niall makes his cute pouting face. We all know Niall will find that special someone someday.  I mean come on.

For the rest of the afternoon we all sat and talked in Liam’s hospital room. Dinner came and went, but it was good to finally have all of us together again just talking like we used to, minus the fact that we were at hospital. But other than that, everyone’s spirits seemed to be lifted, everything was good again. We lost track of time and soon enough visiting times were over and the boys and Katrina had to leave. Liam and I were left alone once again.

Liam lets out a big yawn.

“feeling tired babe?” I say running my fingers through his hair

“hmmmm” he hums in delight “just a little” he says keeping his eyes closed as he smiles

“maybe you should get some rest” I say

“mmkay” he mumbles sleepily, he is so freaking adorable when he is tired. I get up and kiss him on his forehead.

“goodnight Liam” I say pulling away and going back to my seat where I had slept for the past month.

His eyes shoot open and he grabs my hand “don’t leave me Nicole” he whimpers

“I’m right here babe. Don’t worry” I smile gesturing to the chair

He frowns “that doesn’t look very comfortable”

“it’s manageable” I say

He shuffles over in his bed a bit

“Liam, what are you doing? You’re gonna hurt yourself” I say

He completely ignores me and pulls the sheets down gesturing for me to sleep next to him “come here”

“no, you need your space. You have a broken arm and leg Liam” I say gesturing to both his leg and arm in casts

“Nicole get over here so that I can cuddle with you” he pleads making a cute puppy dog face

“Liam..” I say cautiously

“please?” he says, his big brown shiny eyes looking up at me

I sigh “fine”

A smile breaks out on his lips. I climb into the bed, it was pretty big so we had enough room to be comfortable. I snuggle into his left side, putting both my arms around him and his good arm around me.

I look up at him “are you happy now?” I ask

He smiles “very”

He kisses me on the forehead “goodnight Nicole”

“nanight Liam” I say closing my eyes

“I love you” he whispers

“I love you too” I whisper back
