"Hello?" WuAi's boyfriend finally picked up the phone, "Silly, are you still in bed?" WuAi imagined her boyfriend on his stomach, sprawled all over the bed, and his face still smooshed to the pillow. She laughed, "Don't you remember? It's my friend's wedding. Get up!"

She heard a groan through the phone and a muffled, "I'm getting up now..." She laughed again, she could imagine him now twisting around on the bed, unwilling to get up from the bed. Finally she could hear him stop moving and then a loud slap landed on the phone. He had put the phone on speaker and when he got up, the blanket had landed on the phone loudly. He cursed, "Where did I put the phone..."

"I'm here! Save me from your blankets!" she joked.

"Ah, found you phone fairy." She giggled at his antics, and he chortled back, "What should I wear to it?"

"I'm wearing a blue dress, so wear your casual suit with a blue tie."

"Alright. I'll meet you at the venue?"

"Mmhmm."

"See you then."

"Ok, see you! Bye!"

While WuAi drove towards her friends wedding venue, she got a call from her boyfriend, "Hello, it's me."

"Yeah?" She replied.

"Babe, what do you think of getting married?"

This made WuAi pause her thinking. She never considered it despite her friend getting married and having known her boyfriend for 3 years. She didn't know how to reply, "Yes...?"

This made her boyfriend pause as well, "Will you marry me?"

He waited for WuAi to reply. 5 seconds turned to 30 seconds, to a whole minute but at the end he would never get a reply as he was too worried to look at the rode while he was driving.

Bam!  This is what she heard through the phone followed by a loud Screeeeeeeeeech. Then the phone was cut off. The car was enveloped in silence, WuAi finally felt panic reach her after what felt like forever. She called his phone number again.

No answer.

She called again.

"Beep. Beep. Beep. Please leave a reply at the end of the Beep, and I will try to call you back as soon as possible. Beep." She was excited when she heard his voice, and then it was shot down when she realized it was voicemail.

This couldn't be possible.

She had to call again.

"Beep. Beep. Beep..." It drowned on as she rushed through the red light to his house. No way, she thought, I hadn't even given him my response yet. From his house, she followed the navigation to the wedding venue.

She continued to call his number.

Finally on the 30th phone call, it was picked up, "Yi?!"

But instead another voice answered, "Who is this?"

"This is WuAi, his girlfriend."

The other line was silent, before saying, "Your boyfriend is currently at the hospital under emergency surgery. It's at XXXXX Hospital..." Hope lit up WuAi's heart. There was a chance! He could still be alive! She quickly shut off the phone call and as if she was the one racing against time, pressed on the gas.

By the time she arrived at the hospital, his surgery was done. She saw the doctors come out of the emergency room shaking their heads and

and

and...

and she couldn't deal anymore.

She screamed.

Screamed because she was just on the phone with him.

Screamed, because she couldn't say I love you one last time.

Screamed, because she couldn't reply to him fast enough in her excitement.

Screamed... until nothing was left to her soul.

And the doctors sedated her.

WuAi opened her eyes wide after the sedation. Where am I, she thought.  A nurse came into her view, "Miss, are you ok?"

WuAi finally remembered. She had to get off the bed. She had to go find her boyfriend. "Where is my boyfriend? WHERE IS HE!!?" She struggled to get off the bed. A strangled noise came from her, "I need to see him!" she cried, "Let me go!"

The nurse tried to hold her back, "Miss, please! Calm down!" and she was sedated again.

The next time she opened her eyes, she wisened up. She quietly got up from her bed and slipped on her slippers. Luckily she didn't see the same nurse at the nurse station, "Excuse me," the nurse looked up at her, "Where is Yi?"

The nurse looked through the files before pity showed up on her face, "Miss..."

She stopped her from talking, "I know. I-I just need to see him one last time. Please let me."

The nurse gulped difficultly, "He's... currently at the funeral hall. Wait for me, I will grab your clothes." WuAi felt everything collapse again. At the funeral hall... The nurse came back quickly. Quietly, she said, "Miss, I will lead you to the funeral hall." WuAi numbly nodded her head and walked to the bathroom to change into black clothes.

As she walked closer and closer to the funeral hall that was connected to the hall, she could feel her breath leaving her. She was having difficulty breathing. No, she couldn't fall now. But her breath still came to her in short huffs. Take a deep breath

Take another breath WuAi, you got this.

Take another one.

She arrived at the funeral hall. She gulped before opening the door to his room. Inside, he lay in the coffin. All the scratches and blood from the accident were carefully covered up. He wore a new suit and tie.

"Please leave me for a bit..." The nurse closed the door behind her quietly as she stared through the window to make sure WuAi wouldn't faint.

WuAi walked up to the coffin, her hand reached out for the familiar warmth.

But it wasn't there.

Her hand hovered over his clothes, too scared to touch him. Too scared for it to be reality. She was still in a dream. That's right. This is a dream. But her brain didn't allow her heart to follow through, He's dead. Her hand finally caressed his face. She saw a drop of water land on his face. His beautiful face. She wiped it off. She saw another one land on his face. Where was this water coming from? She looked up and around, there weren't any clumps of water anywhere. Oh. It was her own tears.

UWAHHHHH! She kneeled down besides his coffin. She had to cry. Cry the ugly tears her boyfriend used to kiss off when they watched a sad movie. Shivers ran up and down her back and her boyfriend used to bear hug her from the back. Opened her mouth and wail, and then her boyfriend would nuzzle her neck and say, "It'll be alright."

But nothing was ok, because he wasn't there to do these things to her anymore.

The nurse came in and hugged her around the shoulders. She couldn't stand seeing WuAi suffering so badly alone.

Cry...

Cry until you feel better.

Cry... and let him go.

WuAi finally fell into the nurses lap, too tired. Her eyes stared blankly at nothing.

The nurse was able to grab a male nurse and carried her back to her room. The entire day she didn't eat anything so she slowly fed WuAi porridge. Then she proceeded to lay her bed down and turned off the lights.

The nurse continued to check up on her. She changed shifts with her coworkers so that she could be there for WuAi. WuAi was motionless in her bed for a whole week.
