A click was heard as his father stepped out onto the meadow. His gun aimed at his son. He took his time to walk over. Half of him wanted to see his son escape, half of him wanted to kill his son. In the end, he chose to kill his son. His son's obsession had gone too far.
They finally made eye contact when his father arrived at the gazebo.
As DuanZhan held WuAi's head on his lap, and DuanZhan's father held the gun to his head. They looked at each other in disappointment.
The father didn't understand his son. A vampire killed his wife. After all the help she had given to the vampire, all that was returned was a dried up corpse. All vampires are devils, they're all 2-faced and are evil.
The son understood his father though. He understood the pain his father felt from losing his wife, as he was also feeling it right now. But just because a vampire killed his wife, it didn't mean that all vampires were evil and had the same thoughts. He didn't feel any hate towards his father, just disappointment.
"Any last words?"
"Let me be buried with WuAi."
His father gritted his teeth, his son was going to be killed because he was seduced by this devil. Even after it's death, he still wanted to be buried with it. This devil's power sure was powerful, "NO."
"I don't have any regrets." DuanZhan faced his father head on.
DuanZhan didn't make a lot of memories with WuAi, as this life was just too short. But what he could remember, he reminisced at this time.
He remembered that they had come to this meadow before as she had said she wanted to go out to see the stars. She said that it was a completely different feeling seeing them out on the fields versus inside the house.
The flowers had wilted a little bit at this time, since there was no sunlight to feed them. But WuAi still cheerfully made 2 flower crowns with them. She placed a red and white flower crown on his head, and placed a blue and white flower crown on her own head.
"Pretty?" she asked.
"Beautiful." He kissed her little nose. The moon encased her in an ethereal glow and he wanted to save this moment in his memory.
She laughed as a thought went through her mind, "Let's dance!" and she pulled him up from his sitting position.
Both of them didn't really know how to dance, but they were in sync as they moved and from afar, it seemed like 2 fairies were dancing in the meadow.
As they danced throughout the meadow, fireflies also started rising out. At some point, they had stopped dancing and just watched this magical scene. WuAi had turned to him, his reflection was clear in her eyes, "I love you," and she got on her tippy toes to kiss him. They smiled deeply at each other, and then he encompassed her in a back hug as they continued to watch the night.
It was such a simple moment, but it was his.
Before his father shot the gun, the sun was rising and the first wisps of sunlight was filtering through the clouds. He saw the rays of sun hit WuAi, and at first nothing noticeable happened. But he could see that she never ate the pill, as she began to sparkle under the sunlight.
The sunlight hit her legs first, and as the sun slowly lifted, her legs started to disintegrate. It continued up her body as her face was the last to go. With the wind, her ashes disintegrated into sparkles and seemed to surround him and caress his face. Then it moved away with the wind. He felt the tears, but he was unwilling to close his eyes one bit. Watching her disappear.
DuanZhan sat facing the sun as his father moved behind him. He felt the warmth of the sun that WuAi would never feel ever again. He imagined them getting old and sitting on rocking chairs, sitting together while watching the sun rise.
I will join you soon.
I love you.
DuanZhan closed his eyes.
