After DuanZhan started to realize his feelings, he started to drop his guard more often around WuAi. It was to the point that after WuAi would come back from work, she would see him sleeping on the sofa, or he would tease her with his homemade food. They would even sometimes have full on conversations, but they usually ended with him teasing her.
He was horrible, teasing her with such nice smelling food while she had to drink bland, old, blood. But for some reason she continued to eat her breakfast and dinner with him. She started to think she must have a face-con as she could only barely drink the blood carton while staring at his handsome face.
During one dinner, after teasing her, she wanted to ask if there were ways to turn vampires back into humans.
"Turn back into a human?" He repeated. In fact, he knew that ShanCheng was researching this topic before he got to her.
WuAi had been thinking that being a vampire was very bothersome. She couldn't go out into the sunlight to work at normal times. Her coworkers also kept looking at her weirdly. She missed going out into the sunlight. She also missed her tan skin. She also very much missed eating normal food. She really wanted to turn back into a human. Also, getting the pill to turn a vampire into a human was part of her main mission.
"ShanCheng was researching ways before she..."
"Hah," WuAi laughed in understanding, "Before she bit me and turned me into a vampire. Then we both got taken in." If only ShanCheng didn't bite her, and just focused on her research, she would have been able to leave this world so much faster, "How is she right now?"
"She's fine. She didn't kill anyone, which would have resulted in her beheading. She only turned you, so she's just being placed on house arrest at the organization."
"Then do you think she could continue the research?"
"Why do you want to turn back into a human?"
"Why wouldn't I want to turn back into a human?"
"Why can't you just stay as a vampire?" DuanZhan had secretly released his inner intensions, but WuAi ignored it.
"Why would I want to stay as a vampire?" Just before DuanZhan was going to open his mouth to ask a question, WuAi held up her hand in defeat, "Stop." WuAi finally lost the question game. She was frustrated that he just kept questioning her, "Horrible work hours. No sunlight. No good food. I want to be human again."
DuanZhan nodded his head, it was very possible for ShanCheng to restart her research. Using this pill would also make it easier to control the vampire population. He also looked towards WuAi with her puppy eyes, and he would be able to see her under the sunlight. But if she continued to be a vampire, she would have to stay by his side forever. If when she turned back into a human and she didn't like him, then she would immediately leave.
His mind immediately went at war with each other. But he caved in, in the end. "OK, I'll get to it later." WuAi cheerfully ran around the house. He lightly smiled at her antics.
Work was hectic for WuAi. The first day at 4pm, she quickly went to find the Lieutenant to apologize. Before coming back, with the help of DuanZhan, she had forged a fake doctors note that said she was now allergic to sunlight.
The Lieutenant looked at it baffled. "I was being treated for it the past couple weeks, because the rashes were unwilling to go down. I'm sorry I missed work without reason."
"First of all, write a report on the diagnosis. Second, write a apology letter. Third, you're demoted to assistant detective."
"Yes sir." The Lieutenant thought it was now over, but, "Sir, I also need to change my work hours...." The Lieutenant blinked confused, "Sunlight easily comes into our office, and I can still get rashes from them..." WuAi knew she was asking for a lot, but she really couldn't stay in the office during those hours.
The Lieutenant rubbed his forehead, still baffled. Getting sun blocking blinds just for 1 person was too expensive, and then if he did get those blinds, electricity cost would also go up. The Lieutenant could only sigh. "What hours."
"5am to 8am and I'll come back in the afternoon 4pm to 10pm." The Lieutenant recognized it as a regular work hour shift and allowed her to change her time. "Thank you Lieutenant!" She saluted him and quickly left for her department.
Her assistant had now become the main detective, but they still treated each other well. As WuAi was not a bad leader.
Life like this was not bad. She arranged for her blood donor to come at 11pm once a week. She'd start work at 5pm, bring the work home at 10pm, and get closer with the male lead. If an outsider were to comment on their relationship, they would say they look like an old married couple because they were so in sync.
Life was not so bad.
The weeks flew by just like this.
