When WuAi woke up from her anesthesia, she spotted her left hand man asleep on a hospital bed not too far away from her, and LiDong sleeping on the couch. She breathed peacefully, as it was the quiet before the storm. Unfortunately, a doctor came in to check on her and found her awake. Shortly after, her family members came in. It woke up her left hand man, and LiDong. She motioned for them to go take a walk.
It was quiet. Her father started to cut off the skin from an apple, and her mother peeled an orange for her. Her brother stood a little far off. Their parents were pissed as neither of them were talking. WuAi did not like sitting in between her parents.
She tried to start off the conversation cheerfully, "So we succeeded in the mission!"
Her father ignored her, "Come here," he motioned for her brother, "Tell me, what did you do wrong."
WuAi's mother started to pass WuAi a piece of the orange each time her brother confessed his wrongdoings. It was almost like they were watching a movie. She looked at her mother and she was smiling a little bit. Her mother was a bit weird, she liked seeing her son getting scolded, and she liked it even more seeing her husband getting yelled at. Which wasn't often. The only people who dared yell at him were herself, her daughter and the king.
WuAi listened to her brother talk, "I didn't notice that they were holograms."
"Next."
"I didn't pay proper attention to the interviewer." Afterwards, their father grunted to each sentence of his, prompting him to go on. WuAi zoned out until she heard him say, "I didn't look through the 5th floor properly."
"So what happened next?" Their mother asked.
He pursed his lips and finally looked over at WuAi with worry, "Sis and other people got hurt."
"So why did this all happen?" their mother asked.
"Because I was rushed and didn't properly look through everything."
WuAi finally had to end the conversation, "So now you understand what to do and not do right?" He nodded his head, "Then go get me ice cream." He quickly left, glad to be reprieved.
WuAi was only a year older than her brother. Their parent's were also often outside working on missions, so the siblings were naturally close. She understood that he felt bad, and she didn't feel too big of a deal to have to punish her brother.
Her mother quickly turned to her, the oranges all eaten. "If the bullet was any closer, you could have died!"
Her father turned towards her, the apple having been peeled all the way to the core. "If you didn't send your right hand man up, the mission would have failed."
WuAi tried to appease them, but it just wasn't going to work. WuAi had gone on multiple dangerous missions with the secret guards, and had gotten hurt from them. Her mother's anger had accumulated and today was the day she exploded. Her father was angry over all the mistakes her brother had been making and also finally exploded.
There was nothing WuAi could do except to wait it out. Soon the conversation delved to her mother arguing with her father about how he cared more about the mission than his own daughters health. This was often a common and disastrous topic to argue about as WuAi and her brother often took their father's side. They would rather accomplish the mission and get hurt, than to not finish the mission and live. Then their mother called them traitors.
Her brother popped his head in at this time. He nervously smiled at them, "Ice cream?"
He came in with tubs of ice cream, soda, and bowls for the 4 of them.
When they were finally seated and eating their ice cream, YiQing felt the need to ask some questions for clarification. He had stayed up all night, but he couldn't guess how WuAi was able to plan things out even when all 3 plans had failed.
"Why did we not keep to the 1st plan?"
The first plan included getting help from the daughter. WuAi couldn't just let him easily get the answer, "I'll give you a hint: the daughter. Come back again when you think it through."
"If my mask didn't continue to work, what were you going to do?"
WuAi evilly grinned at him, "Leave you there forever."
He frowned in return.
"I'm kidding. I would have continued with the plan. There would only be 1 extra step included: helping you escape."
"What made you prepare the tank and the detector?"
"A hunch."
"When was the 3rd plan seen through?"
"When they found and placed my trackers onto drones." All the things she had done beforehand were all precautions, and unfortunately in the end, they really had to be used.
He frowned again. He realized there was still a lot he had to learn. Luckily his sister had been there.
WuAi sighed tiredly, and her family took her cues. "We'll see you again soon." WuAi tiredly waved her hand back in response.
Outside the room, they found her left hand man and LiDong falling asleep on the chairs. They gingerly woke them up and they entered. LiDong earlier didn't get much of a chance to see WuAi awake, so his eyes now glimmered upon seeing her stand up.
He rushed forward to help her, "Where do you want to go? I'll get it for you."
She laughed, "I need to pee, are you going to bring the toilet to me?"
He blushed ferociously. At the door to the bathroom, he let go of her hands. A moment later, she came back out. He reached out to support her, but she evaded him.
"I am alive and well. I was only shot, it's not a big deal." She felt a disapproving look come from LiDong and her left hand man.
It was only a shot. Not a big deal? Her left hand man thought. Her getting shot, was his worst nightmare. It was her team's worst nightmare! Back when they were all kids and training to be secret guards, she had chosen them to be part of her team. From surviving life or death situations, they became close and swore their loyalty to her. She was their one and only leader. Their secondary job was being the secret guard. If the team could, they would only listen to her words.
WuAi only lazily smiled at them, things had already passed. If it was meant to happen, then it would happen. After all, if she failed, she could always just do the world again.
On the day of her release, her family, XiaoPeng, and XiaoTian came.
