CHAPTER FIFTEEN

THE FLASHBACK

SISTER TAYO'S POV.

I was shocked! So Remi went to Dubai without telling me! Without checking up on me? Wow, this is crazier than I thought.

It's been a week since Remi and Tunde got back from Dubai and I'm yet to ask her for my share in the money we got from the goods. Just like Kola said, I can't pay for her sins and not have a percentage in the money.
We barely talked ever since she got back. I returned the goodies she bought for me. I'm no longer a kid;  she has to stop treating me like one.
I woke up very early knowing this is the only time I get to see her, before she goes out to, God knows where.
"Wow, you startled me Tayo," she said.   She doesn't sound like someone who just got startled though.

"I did? Well, I didn't mean to" I smiled.

"Good morning. I know we've not been on good terms lately. I'm sorry  OK? I promise to make it up to you" She patted my back like I'm some sort of a kid or a dog.  Yeesh!! she irritated me.

"Oh OK. I'm sorry too". I gave a fake smile and continued.  " I just need something from you, like my possession " I smiled.

"From me? Possession? What do you mean? Oh, the stuff I bought for you, right? I kept it in my room. Intact."

"No,  no not that"  I smiled.

"Oh. Then what?" She asked.

"Well, my share in the money you got from Don's goods you sold," I said smiling oddly at her.

She laughed and replied.
"Tayo! That's a long time ago. Like a year or two. Stop being dramatically ridiculous".

" I'm being ridiculous? You think I'm being ridiculous? Oh really! I suffered for your lies and sins and you're telling me I'm being ridiculous? Really? Remi!" I said in a very loud voice. Almost crying.

"What? So you rendered a small favor and you're now saying all this? Do you know how many times I've had your back? How many times I had to sacrifice a lot of things so you could have a better life? Do you?". 

" excuse me! The last time I checked, I was the one who sacrificed my body, emotions, and more. In case you've forgotten, even before we met Don; I had to sleep with dozens of men just to put food on our table.  And as my elder sister that you claim you are, what did you do? You'd embrace me, thank me for bringing you money. Did you once ask me where I got the money from? Did you? Did you ". 
Now my face was flooded with tears.

"Did I force you to go do shits with men? When you did all this, you were an adult and you still are; so how on earth do you expect me to start questioning you where you got money from? Tayo, I'm sorry if you're going through a lot right now, but please do not try to blame it all on someone else, especially not me!"

"Ok, OK. At least I get to have my share." I added, using my hands wipe away my tears.

"You should have asked earlier, that's gone. I've been the one paying for the bills and rents, where else do you think I got the money to do all that. And how much is this money Tayo? It's small money though."

"Small? You call fifteen million naira, small? It's fine. It's alright. You paid bills, right? You may take your leave" I smiled.

"Of course I would take my leave." She said and left.

I rushed into my room, laid on the bed, and cried my eyes out. I was filled with anger. I thirst for revenge. I was so furious that tears stopped flowing down my cheeks, I didn't think twice. I called Kola, I knew I needed his help.
"Hello, can we meet today please,"  I said.

"Wow, sure! My pleasure. 1:00 pm? If that's fine by you?" He said.

"Yeah, one it is!" I hung up.
I need to see Kola,  He said he can help me have my revenge.  I'm in need of his help.

PRESENT DAY.
ROSE'S POV.

"Omg". I screamed. I closed my mouth with my right hand"
In the envelope, I found my parent's pictures in it. With a big X written boldly on their faces in red.
I was scared I lost balance. For a moment the earth paused. Could sister Tayo have ordered for my parent's death? Does the red X on their faces indicate how they were eliminated?  Is Alex's mother a hired assassin? Why would Sister Tayo want to kill my parents?. Dozens of questions kept crawling into my head.  I held the envelope in my hand and I exited the room. I was about leaving when I heard Alex calling his mum.
What? His mum is here? But she's in jail, how come?. Hearing him call his mum, I walked back. They were coming in and I had to rush through the back door.  I gasped and quickly opened the gate, knowing fully well that they were in already; I got outside the house.

I was confused, I was curious, I wasn't thinking straight. I thought I should just go back in there to confront his mum and ask her why she has this in her wardrobe, but that would be the craziest and most awkward thing to do. I thought of going home to ask Sister Tayo one more time with this full evidence if she knows anything about this. That would also be risky, what if truly she hired assassins to kill them, she might kill me, knowing quite well that I know her secrets with full proof.
What if I was wrong. What if all this isn't true. I know for a fact that this is a big misunderstanding, Sister Tayo can't do this.

Or should I tell Alex tomorrow at school? Hell no! If he knows I have something against his mum or his parents, he might inform them and they might want to murder me. "That's ridiculous Rose". I said to myself.
Now, I was stuck. I didn't know what to do, who to talk to, and most especially, who to trust.

I walked into the house. I saw Sister Tayo's back view. She sat on the couch, watching TV. I just need answers to all the questions running in my head.
She noticed me.
" I made dinner"  She smiled.

"Why? Did you really do it?". The words came out faster than I expected.

" why? Do what? I don't get " she said focusing on the TV.
"I mean why did you make dinner? I was supposed to make it; I don't want to stress you" I lied and gave a fake smile.

"Oh OK. Your food is on the table. It's getting cold" She pointed at the table.
"Ok ma" I was about walking in when she called me.
"Rose? Are you OK? You don't look alright to me"  She looked worried.

"I'm fine ma. I had a long day. That's all". I smiled.

" oh ok." She turned to the TV.

At first, I thought I wouldn't eat the food she prepared, but my subconscious told me, if she wanted me dead, She'd have killed me a long time ago.
This thought brushed relief through my mind.
I must find out more about this. I can't tell Alex, nor can I confront Sister Tayo. I'm confused. I hope I get to the bottom of this, I hope Sister Tayo didn't order for my parents' death and I hope Alex's mum isn't a hired assassin.
I laid on the bed and luckily, I slept off.
