ROSE'S POV.

"Good morning ma" Alex said nervously.

"Good morning, and you are?" Sister Tayo replied.

"Alex, Alex Alabi; Rose's classmate."

"You may have your seat ma." He added.

"Thanks, could you please give us some privacy." She said to him.

Alex glanced at me and said. "Ok ma." He left.

"Rose! You spent the night here? In this house? With him?" She asked.

"Yes ma. I replied.

"Why? She asked.

"Your husband, threatened me." I managed to say.

"Threatened you? With what, how? Talk to me Rose". She yelled.

"He threatened to kill me, Yvonne; they both threatened to kill me, I had to leave the house and this was the only option I had." I said louder than I expected.

"Can you listen to yourself, why would they want to kill you, what did you do wrong? You're just making this up just to stay out all night." She said.

"I'm not making this up, Mr Kola said he'd pretend I never came home, He said he needs to protect his reputation. He told me he'll kill me if I tell you what I saw." I said.

" you're making flimsy excuses Rose. I should have known choosing that school was a bad idea, see what you've turned into barely a month and you're like this." She said.

"It's not about the school!! I shouted.

"Then what Rose. If you were with your parents would you spend the night out? Were you given such chances? Were you given the chance to spend the night in a boy's house? were you? She said louder."

" If I was with my parents, my father wouldn't try to harass me, he wouldn't want to.." I stopped for a while to catch a breath.
"Wouldn't want to what? Harass you, like sexually?" She asked.

I nodded.
"Speak!" She shouted.

"Yes. " I replied.

"Oh, is that why he threatened you? She asked.

"No" I said.

" Then why?" She asked.

"I caught them together!" I said.

"Caught who?" She asked further.

"Yvonne and Mr Kola." I said and for a moment I was at ease.

"Uhn? With Yvonne? I don't get." She said.

"I saw them in your room together. I think they're having an affair." I said.

"Yvonne? his cousin? Quit the lies Rose." She said and laughed.

"We're going home right now, this instant." She said.

"You don't believe me? You think I'm making this all up?" I asked.

"I I I don't know Rose". She stammered. "I've had dozens of house helps and they all keep leaving, but...." She said.

"But ?
"But one afternoon I caught him in bed with Tawa, my previous house help in my matrimonial bed; but I don't think he can practice that with you, my niece and his cousin. He shouldn't be that bad." She said with a worrisome face.

"Oh... Was he always at home back then? I asked.

"Yeah, he doesn't have a job even till now, he doesn't. Well, he used to have a good paying job, but now; he doesn't." She said.
