"Fuck!" I yelled as I felt an instant shock run through my entire body. My eyes fluttered open, and the only thing that was on my mind was getting this water out of my throat. My whole body shot up like a Jack-in-the-box. I put my face down, nearly touching the sand. I began coughing as I felt the water coming up my esophagus. I kept coughing until the salty ocean water came out of my mouth. The tan sand that was once dry was now wet and a darker shade of brown.
"Jade!" Someone yelled as I was trying to regain my strength and breathing like a fucking whale. Then from the corner of my eye, I see Emma drop to the sand and throw her arms around me. "Jade! Are you okay?!" She yelled, checking if I was all right. She was so concerned about me. That was something that I loved about Emma. She cared about me and treated me like a sister. Our friendship was similar to me and Rina's, but it was different. "I'm so glad you're okay." She said, brushing her wet body against mine as she squeezed me tightly.
While Emma was aiding me, I failed to notice that two paramedics were standing close by. They were waiting for Emma to step aside so that they could do their job. Emma put a towel over me and asked me if I was okay. I reassured her that I was fine, but she wouldn't stop bombarding me with all these questions. She was a lot more caring than Demi or Nick was. Speaking of them, where they fuck are they, and why aren't they here? Shouldn't they be the ones here helping me and making sure that I'm alive?
I noticed that about fifteen people were surrounding me, including the two paramedics, one of whom were holding a defibrillator in their hands. "Ms? Can you hear me?" The male paramedic asked, looking in my eyes. I nodded. "Do you remember what happened to you?" He asked. I nodded again, "Yeah, I slipped on some water, bumped my head, and fell...into the ocean."
Demi should be here, at least. Nick? I can forget about that bastard helping me. The only person he cares about is himself. He should've been the one that went overboard instead of me. I mean, he's the one who purposely threw my harness close to the edge, knowing damn well that there was a fucking big ass puddle in the middle of the boat. I swear to God. I am going to choke the fuck out of him. Oh, I cannot wait to get my hands on him. He is dead meat.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Emma asked with a puzzled look on her face. I pulled the towel over my shoulders and tugged onto it. I chuckled, grabbing her hand and putting it in mine. "I'm fine, Em," I said, rubbing my thumb over her hand.
"I know you haven't been injured or anything too severe like that, but if you don't mind me taking you to the hospital. I've managed to bandage your wound on your head, but I think that it would be best if you go to the hospital and have them scan your brain." She said, getting up from the sand and looking at her partner. "Uh...Gjin, help her up, and I'll get the truck." She said. The paramedic named Gjin nodded and came to my side, trying to touch, and I tensed up.
I think he saw that I was uncomfortable, so he backed away. "Sorry, " He apologized. "No...i-it's all right. I'm just...a little shaken up after the...you know." I said, lying for the hundredth time, knowing damn well that ever since I met Dennis, I haven't felt the least bit of comfort with a man. I hate men. They're vultures, who should be kept in cages, except for Porc. Actually, Porc can kiss my ass for leaving without telling me his reasons for doing so. And Nick can go and fuck himself. Selfish prick.
I know that today's been a pretty shitty day, but I am not going to let this minor incident stop me from meeting my mom tonight. I have to meet her; I have to.
"Okay, well. I'll walk next to you if that's fine by you?" Gjin asked in his thick Albanian accent. I nodded as Gjin stood by my left side, and Emma was on my other side, draping her arm around my waist.
While we were heading to the boardwalk, where the exit was, I noticed that Demi and Nick were still not aware of me and Emma's whereabouts.
"Would you calm the fuck down, Demi?!"
"Don't touch me, Nick! This is all your fault! We could've lost her again, do you want that?!" When I heard Demi yell this, I stopped in my tracks, and I started to wonder what she was talking about. Emma and Gjin noticed that I had stopped walking. They both looked at me, and I heard Emma say, "They've been doing that ever since the medics came."
"Doing what?" I asked. "Arguing. Come on, let's go. We'll meet them at the truck. I'll tell my mom we're up there, so she can take my place." Emma said, turning her head as I did the same. We all started walking again, me, Emma, and the Albanian fellow.
"So, you're from Albania?" I questioned Gjin, and he looked at me, appalled. "Yeah, how'd you know?" He replied. I smirked, feeling happy that I was right because I loved being right all the time. I mean, who doesn't? "Your name and your accent," I responded. He chuckled. "Back in the Netherlands, I had a friend who was from Tirana. She was a little older than me, and she emigrated there because of the Kosovo war in 1999."
