Jihyun would always bring me souvenirs when they got home, even if I never asked
Our parents never liked it, but they'd never do anything until nighttime, when Jihyun was asleep.
They'd take it away and hide it without Jihyun knowing. Throwing snide comments as they left for their own rooms.
There were rare chances where they didn't notice, those were my favorite.
They weren't very big or bright, just simple but thoughtful.
They were usually something small like jewellery.
I had taken an interest in rings especially, since they were the main things I'd get from Jihyun. My favorite gift though, was a black leather bracelet with a silver buckle that had a small but intricate design of a black swan with a crown on it's head engraved into it.
Jihyun made the design himself. I felt happy that he'd make something [just] for me.
I wore it whenever my parents stopped paying attention to me. It wasn't hard, considering they never paid attention. Never caring enough.
