I've changed Jimin and Taehyung's current ages to seventeen. More notes at the end.

~Jungkook~

I had just entered high school when I met him. He didn't look particularly interesting, so I never really talked to him before.

Besides, I was sure that he'd just be like everyone else.

My parents were both highly respected since they were young, even my dad, who was born into a Beta family.

I've always been distant from others.

They made it painfully obvious that all they wanted from me was the high social standing by association.

The first time I ever talked to him was during a partnered project we had together.

My class was assigned to an older student each for a week to study their school life. My report was on a boy named Kim Taehyung.

He was a Beta. He was two years older than me, and he was always focused on his work and his friends.

The first day was boring as all I did was follow him to his classes and sit with him during lunch.

He always seemed.. distant.

His table was mostly empty, but he didn't seem bothered by it in the slightest.

I first assumed that it was because I was sitting with him, but he seemed used to sitting alone.

The only time his mood seemed to change was when his friends came by.

They never seemed to stay for long though, and they were always asking him for something.

It was suspicious, but I didn't want to assume, so I kept quiet about it.

Two days after is when my suspicions were confirmed. I had to use the bathroom, so I left him to wait for me.

As I was about to open the door, I heard someone mention Taehyung's name.

They were bragging about getting something from him, but I was too pissed off to hear what it was.

I was mad. I don't like it when people use others for their own gain. I would've thrown the door open if it wasn't for the hand that grabbed my arm.

When I turned, I found Taehyung.

I couldn't see his eyes, but I could tell that he was upset.

He was silent as he pulled me away and down the hall. When we finally stopped, we were in front of a different bathroom.

"You should use this bathroom instead, the other one is always crowded."

He turned to leave, but I grabbed his wrist. He didn't turn to look at me, so I spoke angrily.

"Why are you friends with those assholes?! They're only using you!"

I was silenced as he threw me a look.

His eyes were glazed by tears. He seemed to notice as he tried to blink it away.

I wanted to do something, to get rid of his tears, but he walked away before I could do anything.

I was left standing there with my hand held out. I didn't even realize that I was trying to reach out for him.

I stood there blankly before leaving.

The next day was the same as the others. He acted as if nothing had happened.

When I asked him why he didn't do anything about it, he gave me a sad glance. "They're my friends." He smiled.

If I hadn't seen him on the verge of tears yesterday, I would've thought it was genuine.

We left it at that. It was obvious that nothing would change no matter what I said.

The next day and a half went by quickly with me glaring at Taehyung's so called "friends". We talked a bit too.

We actually have a few things in common, including playing video games like Overwatch.

I could tell that I was developing feelings for him.

I noticed it faintly whenever we'd talk, when he would sometimes get this boxy smile on his face.

It became clear to me exactly what I was feeling the next week when I finally saw my best friend since elementary school, and the only person not to use or want to fight me.

"What'd you think of your project with that guy?"

We were walking home from school together when he brought it up. "You guys must be really close."

I looked up from my phone. "What do you mean?" "You didn't hear?"

We stopped walking as we stood in front of my house. "A bunch of high schoolers were talking about you behind your back and he found out."

By the time he continued, we were both sitting in my room with my game console turning on.

"How did he react?"

I was silently nervous for Jihyun to answer, but I was kinda surprised when he did.

"He told them to fuck off since they've never actually met you."

My mouth was hanging open as Jihyun started laughing. "Their faces were priceless. He walked away as if nothing had happened."

After a moment of shock, I started laughing too. My face felt hot, but I blamed it on laughing too much.

Ever since then, I've had Taehyung on my mind.

I was now certain of my affection towards him. I thought it was impossible for me to like anyone else, but that changed about a year later.

Tbh, I first wrote this story in my head years ago, so the ages were really young. I've changed it once before but only by a year.

I read a comment on how young Jimin actually was in this, so I decided it needed an update, so here you go.
