  I sighed.

Taehyung's been giving me worried looks non stop since lunch.

Before I could say anything, Swan hyung came into the room and sat down at our table.

His content expression seemed to change immediately after seeing us.

"Is something wrong?"

I stayed silent for a while, but I gave in when Taehyung gave me a look. I sighed again, "Fine, you can tell him."

He was quick to tell Swan hyung what we were talking about earlier.

I suspected that Swan hyung would blow up like Bambam or give me worried looks like Taehyung, but he didn't.

In fact, I was surprised when his expression softened with a look of understanding, no pity in sight.

Taehyung started ranting off and pleading Swan hyung to convince me to do something, but he shook his head.

"But-" "You can't force someone to do something they don't feel comfortable doing."

At that moment, I felt grateful for hyung saying that, so I gave him a relieved smile.

Taehyung opened his mouth to say something, only to close it again in resignation.

Swan hyung turned to me.

"It's fine if you don't say anything. Being afraid won't make you weak. But if you do decide to talk to him about it, you can always come to us afterwards."

From the corner of my eye, I could see Taehyung nodding in agreement, but despite how hard I tried, I couldn't look away from Swan hyung.

I was mesmerized by his eyes.

They were filled with so much honesty and resolution, I couldn't help but feel comforted by them.

I almost felt sad when he looked away to look over his notes.

For the rest of the day, we went on as if nothing happened, besides the few times I caught Taehyung giving me worried looks.

The entire time, I decided to really think about it.

Everyone else has a nice family and no expectations on them, so I didn't really take their advice seriously, but Swan hyung..

There's just something about the looks he gave me, as if he knew what it was like, which makes me wonder how his life was like.

The next few days were the same as always, until the next week that is.

When I got to class in the morning, I wasn't expecting Jihyun to be waiting for me at the door.

"Come to my house today. I think I found something."

My eyes widened the slightest bit in surprise. "Really? But you've been looking for months" He nodded quickly, "I'm serious."

I was reluctant to agree, but I nodded anyway.

I texted Taehyung and Swan hyung to tell them that I couldn't hang out with them. I waited for school to end before waiting at the school entrance for Jihyun.

When he came, he was almost bouncing in his spot.

I sighed before allowing him to lead the way to his house. When we made it, his parents were both gone, so we just walked in.

Once we got to his hyung's room, he practically threw his bag to the floor and ran to the window.

The room was a chaotic mess.

Everything was on the floor, and it only made the room seem more depressing than before.

It actually matched Jihyun a bit.

Messy, all over the place, and kinda depressing.

When I walked over to him, he showed me a rope ladder with a clear string attached to it.

"Since we were so busy trying to look for clues in this room, we didn't think about opening the windows. When I did, this was here."

I was a bit impressed that he found it, but I raised an eyebrow skeptically.

"And this proves..?"

He gave me an exasperated look, "That he's been planning this for a while." I sighed. "Wasn't this up when we came in the first time? The window was closed too."

"Yeah, but-" "If he was planning it for a while, wouldn't he have just done it? He didn't even have anything packed."

I lifted the rope ladder and noticed something.

"These look used. He's used this before. If he wanted to run, he would've." "No!"

I flinched back at the sudden yell, but I was quick to cover it up.

"Why not? You've said many times before, your hyung would never leave you just like that, so why can't you at least entertain the idea."

"They wouldn't-" "Are you sure?!"

This time it was Jihyun who flinched in surprise. Before, I would always just move the conversation elsewhere whenever he started yelling.

"You don't even notice, do you?"

I let the rope ladder drop from my hands.

"You don't have any pictures of your hyung, you've never talked about him before he went missing, and your parents hate when you mention him."

"They don-" "They do! You never notice because you never pay attention. They look disgusted anytime you say his name."

He tried to open his mouth to say something, but I stopped him.

"That's not even all of it."

I gestured to the now chaotic room.

"This room is almost entirely empty besides the bed, the desk, and everything you pulled out of the closet- which isn't much."

Jihyun looked down, unsure. "Hyung doesn't like decorating."

I could tell that even he didn't believe himself at the moment.

"The clothes in the closet look at least a couple years old, while your closet is always filled with new clothes."

He was silent.

"Instead of believing what your parents say, try looking at the obvious."

Before he could react, I left.
