~Jungkook~
When Swan hyung came in, I stood next to Taehyung awkwardly before being pulled into a seat next to him.
I stayed silent as I watched Swan hyung flip through his notebook before staring directly into Taehyung's eyes. I stayed silently confused until I caught a glimpse of red.
I had to blink a few times to be sure of what I saw.
When I looked closely, Taehyung's eyes were switching between red, gold, and their natural brown at a [timed] pace.
The longer I stared at them in shock, I started to realize how nervous Taehyung seemed.
He was fidgeting with his hands despite his steady gaze forward.
"How are you..?"
Without me realizing it, I was leaning forward, so my face was only inches away from his. That's when he glanced at me, and I could see his eyes glow bright gold.
When I did realize how close we were, I jerked back in a rush as I could feel my face heating up.
Taehyung looked worried when I did and his hands were out as if he was going to grab me in case I fell from my seat.
"You okay Kookie?"
"U-Uh yeah. Yeah I'm fine, but how are you doing that? I thought you were a Beta?"
Taehyung looked nervous again, but it was more noticeable when he looked away in what looked like shame.
At the corner of my eye, I could see Swan hyung putting down his notebook, but it was still open. He sighed a bit before explaining.
"Betas are neutral wolves, meaning they have both Alpha and Omega instincts, that's why Betas are typically known as the peacekeepers in packs."
My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "I've never seen anyone do something like this before. I've never even heard of it."
"Most Betas can only access it now with a certain mindset, which is usually only gained from a rough childhood or a [bad] incident."
I frowned at what he was implying as I turned to Taehyung, who was now looking at Swan hyung as if he was remembering something.
Before I could ask him anything, Swan hyung continued.
"When that happens, depending on the person, they'll start experiencing things only Alphas and Omegas can do. The most common side effect is their eyes."
At that statement, Taehyung looked me in the eyes, allowing me full view of his irises changing colors, even if he still looked nervous.
They changed from red, to gold, before stopping on his natural brown.
When it stopped, Taehyung looked back to his hands fidgeting in his lap.
"Other side effects could be gaining fangs, claws, heightened sense of smells, hearing, and other Alpha Omega attributes."
That's when Taehyung spoke up quietly, but it was just loud enough for me to hear what he said.
"In my case, it was just my hearing, then.."
Taehyung drifted off as Swan hyung put a comforting hand on his back. Taehyung relaxed at the touch.
I have mixed feelings about it, but I don't really know why.
As I pushed those thoughts away, that's when I realized what he said. His hearing..?
I kept it to myself as I looked to Swan hyung to continue.
"To control the attributes suddenly given to them, I've been making things to help them until they can do it on their own."
One of the other two in the room stood behind Swan hyung without me noticing before handing him a small container, which he handed to me.
When I opened it up, there were a few different items separated by columns.
In it were a few pairs of eye contacts in their own containers to keep it from drying or getting contaminated.
There were also a few different pills as well as ear plugs and some sort of spray. They were all labeled, including the pills, which would be a disaster if they weren't.
"You made these??"
I closed the container before seeing a swan design and a β on the top.
I handed the container back to Swan hyung who put it on the table as he nodded.
The guy from before, Moni I think, took over explaining as his boyfriend stayed where he was, using some of the equipment on the tables next to him.
"Swan's been testing [Tae] in case we missed anything."
I nodded as they explained more about Betas and the theories they had about it.
It lasted a while, but when they finally finished, I noticed that Taehyung had moved over to Suga, who looked like he was explaining something to him.
I stood up and walked over to them, noticing how Taehyung started fidgeting again when I did.
After thinking, I realized that it was probably because of what he said earlier about his hearing, which makes a bit more sense now.
"Hyung."
Taehyung turned hesitantly, but he still wasn't looking me in the eyes. I pouted, "Hyung, are you okay? Why won't you look at me?"
It took a second, but he finally looked up, showing me his glowing gold eyes.
"I didn't want you to know I had this problem.." "Problem? Hyung, I think it's amazing!" He looked at me in surprise. "You do?"
I nodded quickly with a smile.
"Of course! I don't see the problem with being able to use Alpha and Omega abilities. If anything, I think it makes you cooler. Besides, everything about you is perfect."
By the time I realized what I had just said while rambling, my whole face was hot and I tried my best to play it off.
It was worth it though when Taehyung started laughing.
When he stopped, he smiled at me, "Thanks. You're perfect too." Just when I finally got rid of the heat in my neck and face, it came back at those words.
Am I imagining things, or did he just say what I think he did?
I didn't get an answer to my unsaid question because in my daze, Taehyung pulled me towards Suga.
He taught us how to use the equipment on the tables and Taehyung started playing with everything, despite being glared at by Suga for "not using it correctly".
We spent the rest of the day there and it gave me a chance to talk to Moni and Suga.
I learned about Suga's hobby of messing with machines and how he taught Moni to use them. They even told me how they met.
All in all, it was a really fun day, and it only made me even more excited to hang out with Taehyung and Swan hyung from now on.
