Behind the curtains
Are trapped artists trying to tell a story
Their legs are trembling
Due to them being afraid of criticismLast-minute fixes are being hurried along
Making sure makeup is on correctly
Outfits are getting a second glanceBreaking the silence
Music starts playingThey're using their feet to paint on the canvas
Something they've been working on for a while
Practicing their routine every day
To become better than they were beforeA girl forgets a step and is offbeat
She's been taught that mistakes are valuable
Bouncing back is all that matters
It proves who she is meant to be
Growing through her pastBehind the curtains
A girl puts on a fake smile
She's nervous she's going to get yelled at today
She wipes her tears and moves onShe steps out and repeats in her head
What's she planned out
Maybe this time she won't cryBreaking the silence
The creak on the floorShe's working on her morning routine
Washes her face and brushes her teeth
Puts on her makeup and a smile
She puts on her clothes laying on her chairHer dad yells at her for being late
But later she hears about an accident on the road
One that might have been her if she was on time
So she puts on a smile and thanks God
Cause the curtains might have closed that day
