Musta been tornado season
There had been a few warning signs
They saw the thunderstorm brewingShe was hoping it would pass over
Chey was praying that he wouldn't walk away
They had a perfect summer timeThe fights were getting worse
The rain kept falling harder
The thunder was a few miles awayShe saw a flash and he was gone
Their home was ripped up from the ground
He took his roots with himShe felt the cold breeze coming
Her heart was ripped out of her chest
He destroyed the foundation of their houseThe storm was man made by him
He saw a way to find a new start
He dropped everything they had togetherShe's picking up the pieces that he broke
The storm did a whole lot of damage
He never even looked in the rear viewHis blue eyes just saw a fresh start
A chance to have a little fun
He didn't worry about the pain he causedIt's going to take years to build a new home
A home that she won't see a memory of him
One built out of independence and loveLately, she wishes the storm never came
They would be making more memories
Talking about their futureThis storm was just a fresh start
She's learning to stand on her own feet
She'll rebuild her home again soonShe started a new foundation
She saw the cracks in it and a warning sign
So Chey started all over againWhen everyone asks how she is
She just flashes a smile and says,
"I'm rebuilding again."Chey lays down in a temporary home
Closes her eyes and dreams she's with him
She promises she'll never let a storm destroy her againChey started building flood gates
Planted some trees to block the winds
Just wishing for sunny days to come
