Kinda wrote this based on my current situation so please be gentle with this chapter💗

Ashton had his strong arms wrapped around you as you sat on his lap with your face buried in his shirt.

You just got the news of your grandpa's passing. It had been coming for days now. It'd only been a matter of time. But that didn't make it any easier.

It broke Ashton's heart to see you hurting so badly. You were taking it hard and he didn't know what to do or say to make it better.

He ran his hand up and down your back and let you cry into his shirt. You had your hands around his back and your grip was tight as if you feared he was gonna fade away too.

"Is there anything you need right now? Anything I can do for you?" You shook your head and held him tighter. "No. Just... please stay here with me. Don't let go of me," he nodded his head and tried to hold back his own tears but he couldn't. It hurt him to see you so sad and to know that he couldn't make you feel any better.

If what you needed was for him to hold you he'd never let you go.

An idea came to your mind and you spoke up softly.

"Can you sing to me?" Ashton looked down at you to find you looking up at him. You were both crying. He softly kissed your wet cheek and used his thumb to wipe away what tears continued to fall down the other one.

"Of course I can," he said as he swallowed the lump in his throat and tucked your head back to his chest.

Softly, he started to sing in your ear, hoping it'd help ease your pain.

He heard you sob against his chest and once again, the lump in his throat returned.

"I miss him,"

Ashton nodded his head and let out a heavy breath.

"I know you do. It's gonna be okay. I know it doesn't seem like it right now, but it will soon. And I'm gonna be right by your side through this, okay? I know you're hurting but you can count on me. You can talk to me whenever you want to. I promise I'm not going anywhere," he murmured against your hair as he kissed it a few times.

When you stayed quiet and your sobs turned to whimpers he started to sing again. This time, he made it a song he knew your grandpa loved a lot. One you connected with him. And it made you feel a little better.

The loss wouldn't be easy but with Ashton by your side, you were gonna get through it, no matter how long it took.
