he sings you to sleep

You felt Ashton's chest moving up and down as he breathed steadily. Small snores left his parted lips, his arms were wrapped around you to hold you close as you both slept. Or, as he slept, anyways.

You both decided to call it a night about two hours ago and you've yet to fall asleep. You're getting frustrated. You've tried to stay still, refraining from waking your tired boyfriend. But the longer you lay there the more anxious you become.

You reached down and grabbed Ashton's hand. You gently pulled it away from your stomach and tried to roll away from him, but he woke up when he felt you moving. "What do you think you're doing?"

He mumbled as he wrapped both his arms around you and tried to pull you back to him. "I can't sleep, Ash. I know you've had a long day and I didn't wanna bother you so I was just gonna go downstairs for a little while."

"You can't sleep? Why? Something on your mind?" He rubbed his eyes and turned onto his side to face you. He reached up and tucked a lock of hair behind your ear. He was no longer focused on sleeping, he was only focused on you.

"No. Just not tired, I guess." He traced your lips and watched them curl into a small smile. "Want me to sing to you? Would that help?"

You tried to hide your grin but it was impossible. You love the sound of his voice. How beautiful and calming it is. In your eyes, he has the most beautiful voice.

"I'd like that a lot." He pulled your head to his chest and brushed his lips against your ear, placing a few soft and delicate kisses against your soft flesh before he began to sing the words to better man.

Your mind slowed, the only thing you could focus on was his voice and warm breath fanning against your ear. He started to stroke your arm, fingers spread apart as they ran up and down your soft skin in a soothing manner.

And before you knew it, your eyes were heavy and you were falling asleep.

Ashton looked down at you and could tell you were almost asleep. "Love you," he whispered into your ear and leaned his head on yours. He continued to hum quietly as you both drifted off to sleep together.
