You opened the door just a crack and poked your head out, hoping to find someone to help you zip up your dress since you couldn't seem to reach the zipper yourself.

You saw your best friend, Ashton, talking to one of your cousins in the empty hallway. "Hey, Ash?" He turned his head when he heard your voice. "Can you help me?"

He excused himself from the conversation with your cousin and came over to you. "What's up?" You opened the door the rest of the way and tugged him inside by his hand. He pushed the door closed with his foot, too mesmerized by you to really even notice.

It's one of your cousins' wedding day and you decided to bring Ashton with you. You're only friends but it's obvious that you have feelings for each other. And now that Ashton sees you in this dress... he didn't know if he'd be able to hide his feelings much longer.

"Can you zip this for me? I can't get it." Ashton nodded and pushed your hair out of the way before his fingers trailed down your spine to the zipper. He pulled it up and his breath hitched when you turned around. "Do I look okay?"

His eyes raked over your body and he smiled at you. "Y-You look beautiful."

"And you look very handsome in your tux." You watched his lips curl up in a smile before he guided you out of the room and out to where the wedding would take place.

"Y/n!" You heard the voice of your aunt and turned around just in time as she ran to you and pulled you in for a hug. It's been years since you've seen her and you're very close, so to say you were excited to see each other felt like an understatement.

"Well don't you look beautiful." She said, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear before looking at Ashton. "And who's this handsome man? Your boyfriend?" You and Ashton looked at each other before looking back at your aunt. "We're just friends, actually. I met Ashton in college recently."

You didn't notice Ashton staring at you but your aunt did, and she was giddy about it. "That's great. I'm happy you're enjoying college!" You were about to speak when you heard the doors open, signaling it was about time for the wedding to begin.

"I'm gonna go sit down. I'll save you a seat?" You nodded at Ashton and watched him walk over to a row of chairs, patting the one next to him as he stared at you with bright eyes.

"Hey," your aunt said, grabbing your arm as you tried to walk away. "Just so you know - just friends don't really look at each other the way he looks at you."

You felt butterflies in your stomach at the thought of him staring at you the way you secretly always hoped he would.

You walked to Ashton and sat next to him. You felt him place his hand over yours, lacing your fingers together with a grin as he tried to pretend he was just watching everyone gather and prepare for the wedding to start, when in reality he was just watching you.
