Ashton tried to close the door as quietly as possible behind him as he stepped inside your shared house. It was dark and silent, which wasn't surprising at all considering it was after two in the morning.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the last three shows of the tour had to be rescheduled for a later date and while Ashton was a little disappointed at that, he was also excited because it meant he got to come home a few days early, and since he's been gone for the last three months he's thrilled to finally be home.

He made sure the door was locked and then he made his way upstairs. The door was open just a crack. He pushed it open the rest of the way, being greeted with pure darkness and the sound of your soft breathing. He took off his shoes then excitedly made his way to his side of the bed.

He climbed into bed and let his hand fall to your back, and that's when he noticed that you were shivering. Your shoulders were shaking slightly and, instinctively, he draped the blanket that was up to your back further up to your shoulders.

You lifted your head from the pillow. You were startled at first by the sudden touch but Ashton quickly calmed you by rubbing your arms. His touch was light and oh so familiar and when you realized it was him you were opening your tired eyes to get a glimpse of him.

"Ashton?"

"Yeah, it's me, baby girl. I'm home."

You hummed when you felt his warm hands on your cold skin. "You're freezing, baby. Are you okay?"

"Yeah. What can I say, Ashton? I get colder when you're not here holding me."

You let out a small giggle as he put his arm around you and carefully but excitedly tugged you as close to him as you could get. His legs tangled with yours. You could feel the warmth of his skin again your own cold skin. Instantly, you were relaxed, and the longer he held you there the more you felt yourself beginning to warm up.

"I'm already getting warmer." You muttered as you peeked your eyes open. The smile he sent you as he brushed his thumb under your lips made you crack a tired one yourself. "Yeah?" You could sense the happiness in his voice. "I'm happy to hear that."

He gave your lips a soft little peck. You buried your face in the crook of his neck and the feeling of your warm breath fanning against the skin of his neck sent a shiver down his spine.

He heard you chuckle, the small sound sending a rush of happiness and contentment through him. Oh, how happy he was to be back with you and to be able to hold you so close to him again that he could feel your heart beating in sync with his own.

"I missed you. I missed everything about you, Ash. I missed you holding me like this, making me feel so safe and warm."

"I missed you too, sweet girl. Are you nice and warm now?"

You wordlessly nodded your head and lightly kissed his neck.

"Good. Then go to sleep. I know you're tired and so am I. We have tomorrow to catch up more, but let me just hold you while we both get some sleep tonight."

You couldn't complain about that.

"Okay. I love you. I'm happy that you're home."

You didn't see it since your face was still buried in his neck, but he cracked a wide and bright smile; one that was bigger than the ones he's had on his face over the course of the last three months. Sure, he loved performing. He loves the fans, loves being around his three best friends, but nothing could compare to these moments he gets to spend with you.

"Me too, y/n," he whispered, kissing the side of your head before his head fell onto his pillow and his eyes closed. "I'm so happy. I love you so much."
