"Something lurks outside." Said the older werewolf. She was placed by the big window at the front of Chase's house.
After I had woken up this morning I was pleased to see Chase still in bed next to me and then I felt the sudden rush of embarrassment after I begin to think of what happened last night.
It still shocks myself that I did something so brave. The sensations were so weird, but I couldn't get enough of Chase. All that was running through my mind was Chase. Chase. Chase.
Chase soon woke up after me and after a few minutes of staring at each other me he offered to take me downstairs to let me meet some of his pack. There was surprisingly a lot of people crammed in his huge kitchen. They were all werewolves, you could tell that much, they stood at least two heads taller than me. Their tan skin foreign to me, as in the cold town of Colorado, you never see anyone with a 100% real tan. They stood tall and muscular, as if they all held as much power as the Alpha.
I nearly gasped aloud when I looked at Chase. I compared him to the other werewolves. Where the men stood at 6'1-6'2 and the girls stood at 5'10-6'0, Chase stood a surprisingly head taller than them all. Instead of looking tall and lanky he looked tall and strong. It made my heart jump out of him.
Chase gripped my waist as he looked down at the elder. His stern face turned into one of confusion that he quickly covered back up with his 'Alpha' face. The older lady stood at about 5'8 with long, shiny grey hair that hung past her waist, hitting the back of her knees. She drew me away from the crowd of werewolves after breakfast and insisted that she needed to talk to me. Chase found me a little later and wasn't pleased that the lady took me away without his permission. The lady brushed him off and placed all her attention solemnly on me.
The lady gripped my hand tightly and looked in my eyes, with a pleading look. I gasp as he small, yet strong hands gripped mine harder. Chase gripped my shoulders and pulled me back, the lady didn't let go."Tell your man to back down." The elder lady said.
The look in her eyes told me that whatever she is about to tell me was important, and I so needed to know. I turned back to look at Chase and gave him a pleading look, "Chase, please."
Chase looked down at me with a hard look. His hold loosened on me and he nodded, stepping back a little. My attention was then returned to the elder lady.
She had a pleased look and her face and relaxed her face, "Thank you my dear." She turned her attention towards the window and patted my knee with her free hand that wasn't attached on mine. She soon closed her eyes, "I can feel his eyes on us, Honor." I sucked in a breath, my mom only called me by my English name, "He watches you with a need, a desire. He knows who you are. He knows everything about you...or so he thinks. He wanders how you are special, he knows you're special and hold a power but he doesn't know what...yet."
I cut her off quickly, "How am I special?"The lady opens her eyes and looks into mine, her dark eyes make me shiver, "So you're aware?"
I slump back against Chase who had taken a seat behind me, "My mother always read to me before I went to sleep. It was always the same book too. It wasn't a fairy tale that mom's read to there babies...it was a book about a legend. A warrior." The lady now looked intrigued, "I asked her constantly why she always read me the book, she answered with the same thing every time...'this book was written for you, you are special and you will one day see.'" I trailed off as a tear ran down my cheek, I grabbed Chase's hand with my shaky one and gripped onto it, he stroked my arm, but said nothing. The elder woman tapped her chin in thought, "What was this book called?"
I shrugged, "I never cared to look, I just cared about the story, it was always intriguing no matter how many times she had read it to me."
"Do you have access to the book?"
"No, my mom always took it into her study, she never left it in my room."
The lady stood to her feet and grabbed both of my hands, causing Chase to growl and stand to his own feet, "So you do have access to it! It's in your mother's study!"
I sobbed out as I clawed at her tight grip.
Chase growled once more and ripped the elders grip from mine, he pushed her back but she stayed on her feet.
"He wants you! He wants you for many reasons! Love, lust, power, strength! You are spacial Annora! You are her the true warrior." She turned to Chase with a wild look, her eyes were blood shot, "Watch her closely Alpha Tutore, he wants her and he wants her now."
"WHO'S HE!" Chase roared slamming his fist against the wall.
I jumped at the sudden movement and gripped onto the back of Chase's shirt. Chase gripped onto the elders collar and brought his face towards her, he stood 6 inches taller making him look 10x more intimidating.
"Chase..." I whimpered, I tugged on his shirt as he looked down at the woman, she had a ghost of a smile on her face. My stomach twisted at the sight of her brown teeth.
Chase shook her, "I swear, if you don't tell me who this man is I'll through you into the pack prison where you'll rot and feel pain as you feel yourself slipping into hell."
The woman snickered and locked eyes with my wide ones, I gripped onto Chase's shirt tighter as she narrowed her eyes at me, "It's the man with the shadow. He's the one that was chasing her in the woods that day, the first day you saved her and brought her home. You have no idea how close she was to being captured." Chase released the woman, she fell to the ground in a heap then got on all fours. She began coughing, blood soon splattered on the floor.
I cried out and dug my face in Chase's back.
"Get her out of my sight." Chase said coldly. I peeked around his shoulder to see Luke in the doorway, he nodded his and and picked up the lady by her armpits.
Chase didn't look back at me till we heard the front door shut. Chase sighed and turned towards me, he grabbed onto my face and brought me into a sweet kiss. I then realized how bad I was shaking, I gripped onto Chase's biceps and dug my head in his chest, "Who is she?"
Chase groaned, "Her names Lola Vagabondo. She's been in this pack for a while, her age seems to be getting the worst of her."
"Vagabondo..." I whispered, the name sounded familiar.
Chase stroked my cheek, "Vagabondo. Wanderer."
