My breath hitched in my throat as my eyes locked with his dark ones. The familiar dark coals of Chase was comforting to me, but the black eyes this man had seemed to lead to bottomless pits. Chase growled loudly and quickly shoved me behind him, his claws retracted from his fingers and I could see his mouth widen for his long fangs to protrude.
Reed stood tall and confident as always but his own fangs were on show and you could catch a glint of fear in his eyes. He snarled at the man but stood his ground, "Men, head home to your families, I will get back to you later." Reed told his vampire men, they nodded and packed up their things. l
A few minutes later the only ones who stayed were Chase, Reed, and I. I shakily grapped a hold of Chase's arm and whimpered. I hadn't dressed necissarily well for this weather, only grabbing what I could find in the house which consisted of Chase's old sweatpants that I rolled up and I hoodie over his shirt. The air seemed to get even more colder as the man and his shadow continued to stare at me. Chase looked over his shoulder at me with a look of fear of his own, but not fear for his life but fear for my own.
"Hand her over and no harm will be done to the lady." The man said after some intense staring.
"You really think I'll hand her over just like that?" Chase bit out clenching his fingers around my hand.
The man laughed loudly, "Why no, I'm not ignorant. I knew there'd be a fight, now tell your men to show themseleves."
Chase glared at the man and acted as if he was talking to someone in his head. A few seconds later leaves rustled and heavy footsteps could be heard. Numerous werewolves emerged from the trees and snarled at the enemy. A larger werewolf stood next to me, his green eyes told me everything was going to be fine. But was it?'
"Reed," Chase said grabbing the vampires attention, "I want you to take Annora to your place, you can get out of here faster than I can."
Reed nodded and grabbed my arm, I cried out and clutched onto Chase, "How will you know he won't get me there?"
"Downworlders are forbidden in vampire home, you'll be safe."
"And you?" I asked cluthing to him tighter.
Chase gave me a crooked smile and crashed his lips with mine, in a deep kiss pulling at the strings of my heart. He pulled away quickly as he passed me onto Reed who shoved me behind his back. A growl came from deep within Chase's chest as he stared down the man, who irritatingly had a bored look on his face.
I felt sick to my stomach as I saw Chase shift and pounce on the man along with some others from our pack. The next thing I remember is Reed holding me back from Chase and then a sharp pinch coming from my arm.

I awoke on a rather hard surface, a wool blanket was lying over my bruised and sore body. The room I lied in was dark with no windows and one door. A vanity was placed near the front along with a dresser but besides that the room was bare. The door opened causing me to flinch at the light flooding in. Someone apologized and quickly shut the door, a lamp was lighted a few seconds later emitting off the face of Reed. He gave me a sad smile and walked to the bed side and took a seat at the end, "Sorry for the uncomfotorable bed, us vampires don't get many outsiders staying in our guest room."
I nodded my head and sat up, my sore back hitting the head board, "Why am I so sore?"
Reed chuckled, "You gave us me quite a quarrell when I tried taking you away from the fight. A tranquilizer was all I could think of."
I gave him a incredelous look that he merley shrugged off. We fell into an awkward silence until I broke it with a whisper, "Is Chase okay?"
"We're not sure. He hasn't got back to us. I'm sure he's fine though." Reed said soothingly, placing a hand on my shoulder.
His touch was cold and it made me feel as if I'd break into pieces. Chase's touch was warm and reassuring.
My eyes watered at the thought of him and Reed pulled me in for a tight hug.
A loud scream came from the hallway causing me to release Reed and sink back into the bed.
A man appeared at the bedrooms door. He was dripping sweat, or so it looked like sweat, "Master. It's here."
Reeds face turned stone cold and he reached for me hand, "Don't step door out of this room."
The door slammed behind his retreating back. More screams met my ears and I had to cover my ears to drown out the sound.
My door was again slammed open and I big shadow of a man appeared.
I didn't have time to scream as I fell into sudden darkness.
