Silver and Lily had never laughed so hard, the pair were giggling over the smallest of things but to them it was the best joke they'd every heard. With every chuckle the boat rocked causing them to laugh even harder, with Hagrid keeping a close eye on the girls to make sure neither one fell in the Black Lake. After the two had regained their breath from the fits of laughter, Silver leant over the side of the boat gently and looked into the dark depths of the water. Her face filled with fascination as she imagined all the creatures that were living right below where they were.

Magical creatures had always interested Silver even as a child, her best friend growing up was her families house elf Trixie. Her family treated her poorly which angered Silver but she was never able to do anything about it, so instead she tried to make up for it by being the small elfs friend. The day she left for her first day of school, she endlessly worried about the elf and what her parents were going to do to the poor creature. On her tenth birthday Trixie gifted her a bowtruckle confirming their significant bond that had grown over the years which was currently in her trunk safely wrapped in one of her jumpers. Silver snapped back into reality as she felt a tear run down her cheek. Oh how she already missed the house elf that practically raised her along with her brother and one of her old friends who acted as a father figure for her. She wiped the tear away before Lily could see, although she had made good friends with the girl she still didn't feel comfortable crying in front of her nor did she want her new found friends pity.

The boats docked at the side of the castle and the group of first years, Lily, Silver and Hagrid all looked up and admired the large castle. Nerves began attacking Silver, her stomach began bubbling as her panic levels rose. Lily smiled and grabbed her hand, "Don't worry, you'll be fine." The encouraging words made her feel better but nerves were still subtly eating away at her. Lily left to go join the others in the Great Hall, leaving Silver with the first years as her only company. A woman with grey hair pulled neatly into a bun, a green hat and matching emerald green robes strode out of the large entrance doors and smiled at Silver before turning to the group of small children. Although she was to be in fifth year, she was not much taller than the first year causing her to blend in with them.

"Now children, firstly welcome to Hogwarts I know the other students will welcome you along with the other professors. My name is Professor Mcgonagall, and the man to my left is Hagrid our Games and grounds keeper. When we enter the hall you will walk in pairs in two orderly lines and wait at the front of the hall. The sorting hat will be brought out and briefly sing its annual song. You will then be called in turn and the hat will be placed on your head, choosing which house you would suit best. Our four houses are Hufflepuff for the caring and loyal, Ravenclaw for the smart and intellectual, Slytherin for the ambitious and cunning and finally my house, Gryffindor for the brave and courageous. It is now time, follow me in your pairs. Silver come up front with me you will be sorted first as the oldest."

Silver quickly walked next the professor struggling to keep up with her long strides as they approached the hall. Silvers eyed widened as the large wooden doors opened to reveal a large hall with five long tables, four tables stretching the length of the hall one being red and gold, one being blue and bronze, another being green and silver and the last being yellow and black which she assumed to be one for each house. The fifth table was at the front of the hall stretching the width, along the table sat various adults who must have been the professors for each subject. Sat in the middle of the table was an older wizard with long, white, silvery hair and a beard to match, he smiled at the professor and girl as they walked through the doors. For a moment Silver had forgotten her nerves and looked around the hall, with the floating candles scattered above them, the various house flags above each table, the pictures dotted around the hall and the various ghosts sat with the houses. She admired the room and tried to spot her new friends on the Gryffindor table, soon her eyes met the four boys who were cheering at the tops of their voices and Lily who looked utterly embarrassed by the boys but gave her an encouraging smile and then indicated to the others along the Gryffindor table. Thats when she noticed every guy was staring at her with the same lustful look the boys had in their eyes on the train, she cursed her Veela powers as she nervously looked around the hall blushing as she became overly aware of all the pairs of eyes on her.
