"Settle down now, today's lesson will be a very difficult one. Only some of you will be able to produce this charm, others will struggle and need more practise." A short, round witch spoke as she walked round the room. Silver smirked and turned to Sirius, "The patronus charm." She whispered grinning, Sirius smiled widely and chuckled excitedly.

"Today's lesson will surround the Patronus Charm, copy down these notes and then we'll practise conjuring one. The Patronus is a famous defensive charm. The aim is to produce a silvery-white guardian or protector, which takes the form of an animal. The Patronus can also be used as a messenger between wizards. As a protective magical concentration of happiness and hope you will need to have the recollection of a single talisman memory which is essential in its creation. This is the only spell that is effective against Dementors." Professor Merrythought informed whilst writing notes on the board.

The professor paused to allow the students to write out the spell description. Sirius, of course, was doing nothing of the sort. Instead he was bouncing excitedly in his chair, growing impatient. The classroom door swung open to reveal the headmaster, he was grinning and his gaze directed straight onto the Marauders. "Ahhh Professor Dumbledore, please come in. We're studying the Patronus charm today." Professor Merrythought flicked her wand and the tables and chairs swung away from the students and to the sides of the room.

"Each of you must think of your happiest memory, it must be so powerful that it swells inside of you when thinking about it. To successfully cast the spell, one must muster the happiest memory they can think of, the happier the memory, the better the charm will work and begin drawing circles with their wand so as to increase the power of their spell. They must then say the incantation, Expecto Patronum; the Patronus will come from the tip of the wand and can be directed towards a target by pointing one's wand at said target. Dumbledore, if I'm correct, you're rather good at this charm in particular. Would you like to demonstrate?"

Dumbledore grinned and stood from the chair he had perched on. He wandered to the front and reached for his wand inside his robe. He held it up high and mutter, "Expecto Patronum." A bright silver light spouted out end of his wand, upon closer inspection it the light was in the shape of a phoenix. The bird swirled around the room before landing gracefully back on his shoulder and disappearing. The class erupted into applause and cheers as he returned to his seats thanking them.

"Everyone form a circle and we'll cast the charm and see who can do it first." The class ran into a circle and immediately pulled out their wands. Sirius grinned at Silver and turned to the teacher. "Professor, Silver can already cast a patronus charm." Professor Merrythought looked at the girl impressed, and smiled, "Miss Snape, that's very impressive would you be able to demonstrate?" Silver nodded and pulled out her wand, she pictured the memory of when she had first been to Newts and met all the creatures. She pictured Pickett playing on her shoulder while the nifflers tried to steal her golden necklace.

Silver pointed her wand out in front of her and casted it in a circular motion, "Expecto Patronum." A similar wisp of light emitted from the end of her wand alike Dumbledore, but instead of a phoenix, a silvery winged horse with a skeletal appearance, reptilian features, and wide, leathery wings that resemble a bat's praided around the room. "A thestral, that's a very rare patronus, Silver. Most uncommon Patronuses of all are magical creatures such as dragons, phoenix and thestrals." Dumbledore said as the thestral circled around a chuckling Sirius before flapping its wings and disappearing. The class erupted into praise once again as the professor neared closer to Silver. "Who taught you that spell?"

"Newt taught me it when I was about six or seven but I had only mastered it when I was eight." Dumbledore smiled proudly before joining the rest of the class in the circle, followed by Silver and Professor Merrythought. Sirius grinned and high fived Silver like he always did once she'd answered a question correctly or demonstrated a spell perfectly, before returning to try and cast the spell himself. They each in turn tried the spell all unable to do it on their first try, some being able to produce wisps of silver that faded.
