63 - The hurricane and the Rock

[Cole]

Everything happened so quickly. I felt guilty for not being there before, if I haven't stayed playing that stupid game with Jay, Kim probably wouldn't be attacked, or I would be there to protect her.

Now, I am watching over her until she recovers her consciousness, she is laying in the Monastery infirmary bed, we managed to transfer her here from the hospital. She is out of risk, Akita used her healing powers to speed up her recovery, but I still feel as if I had almost lost her.

Suddenly, she started moving, I held her hand to let her know I was there, but she pushed her hand away from mine and started screaming, tears flooded her hazel-green eyes...

-"get away from me" - she was shaking and scared....
-"Kim... it is me Cole, you are safe, we are back in the monastery..." I said calmly touching her face...

She looked in my eyes for a minute, recollecting her thoughts, and let her cheeks drop on my hands, I pulled her closer and kissed her forehead, her crying became sobbing and slowly she calmed herself down.

-"it is OK, I am here, I am sorry i wasn't there before, you shouldn't have to go through that by yourself. I was too late... sorry..."

-"don't be silly... you heard what he said, this happened before... in this alternate timeline Akita and Lloyd were talking about, he... he..." she struggled to say anything else.
-"maybe... but not here... I will not let him come near you... I pro..."
-"don't... don't say it... "
-"why... you don't think I can keep you safe... I suppose, I failed you today..."
-"you didn't fail me.... I should be able to fight him myself, but I froze, not only my power, but all my training. My mind threw me into this labyrinth of memories I couldn't think straight."
-"that is why I should have been there for you."
-"stop Cole... stop trying to take the blame, I am not going to let you feel guilty for this. You are guilty for letting me be hungry there, but not for what's happened."

She finally smiled a bit, and I smiled too.

-"the worst part is, I am still hungry..." She looked at me and melted my heart with her smile.
-"well, I have some cake here, do you want a piece? You know I normally don't share my cake, but I will open an exception for you today."
-"with milk?" - she knows I always have a bottle of milk with my cake.
-"yes.. with milk..." I passed to her a small bottle I have been drinking from, and she finished it all leaving a white moustache over her lips.

I started smiling at her, gosh... I love this girl... she has no idea how much I love her, and how I have been in love with her all this time. I keep holding back my feelings for her, I don't want her to freak out if she finds out how I feel for her. Partly because she never let go what she feels, I mean I know she loves me as if I was her brother, but is there anything else?

She is always trying to set me up with girls from the hospital, and she even created an online dating profile for me, we ended up having a fight because of that, and after some random girl started stalking me, Kim finally stop trying to find me a girlfriend, but still, I have never been able to gasp anymore then friendship feelings from her towards me, and she is the best friend I ever had. Would be just the cherry at the top of the cake if we could be more than just friends.

My mind was lost on all those feelings for her, I failed to notice she was watching me.

-"What Cole?" Her question woke me from my daydream "why are you smiling at me?"

-"you have a 'Milk-tache' here!" I said using my thumb to clean her lips.

But, as I wiped her lips our eyes crossed, and I saw something I haven't never seen before, the way she looked at me, I couldn't move away from her, and next she closed the gap, holding my neck to pull herself towards me as our lips joined together on a kiss, not just a 'thank you' kiss, I had many of those before from her... it was a proper tongue wrestling kiss.

It was not quick or desperate either, it was sweet, slow, deep, full with hidden feelings that just kept coming, everytime I thought it would end it suddenly started again, I enjoyed every second, until we partied connecting our eyes again.

-"Kim... you... I.. I mean we... just..."

-"kissed?... yes... I believe I kissed you... was that ok?"

-"depends... I need to know what that means." I said very honestly to her, we haven't stopped looking at each other's eyes.

-"I don't know... I... am not sure."

-"I need to know Kim... was that just because what's happened today, or is there something else..."

-"something else... like what?"

-"you know... more than just friends... "

-"we have always been more than just friends, Cole."

-"siblings don't kiss like that Kim..."

-"I know... I... I... am....sorry... you didn't like it."

-"like it? I love it..." I said without thinking, making her smile at me and blush, just a bit, I don't remember ever seeing her blushed before. -"I love you Kim."

-"you know I love you too..." she replied trying to avoid my eyes...

-"Kim, I still need to know..." I hold her face bringing her eyes to mine again.

-"why? Was it a wrong move?" She asked.

-"only if you didn't mean it."

-"what do you mean? I kissed you because.... because... " she suddenly stopped talking, so I took from her

-"you were overwhelmed by what's happening today... it is fine if that was the reason."

-"yes... I am overwhelmed by today's events, but that was not the reason, I have been in denial... Cole... I..."

She said enough... I kissed her and she melted in my arms.

-"Are you in love with me, Kimmy?" I asked her after we stopped kissing.

-"Yes... I am... I have been for a while... why... are you going to tell you don't feel the same and break my heart?"

-"no... I will do worse... I will marry you, and we will have a big family..."

We both started laughing...

-"how is that worse, Cole?"

-"you will tell me in a few years time... when you would be going into labour to deliver our kids."

-"you are thinking too far ahead..."

-"am I? So, how many children are we having?"

-"5... 3 girls and 2 boys..."

-"why would the girls be the majority? Let's make another boy, and get those numbers even..."

-"fine... 3 girls and 3 boys... have you ever wondered what would your Mom think about us ending up together?"

-"actually, funny you mention that, a few months ago, when we had that fight about you trying to sort me out on a date, I met my father and he said my mom always knew we would end up together, according to him she used to said that the day we two grown up and stop having tantrums we would find out we are actually soulmates..."

-"did she...?" Kim gave her best smile, and I wanted to kiss her again.

-yes...I am sure she would have loved to babysit her 6 grandchildren...." - I said before claiming her lips one more time.

Between kisses we carried on talking about our past, present and future together and the conversation went above and beyond, as everything between us.

And that was how the hurricane and the rock finally settled in harmony.
