Sierra's POV
I pushed past Rayne and out the front door and stopped at the porch. My mouth was covering my mouth as I sobbed lightly. I just couldn't get a break could I? Ever since I got here it's like I cause trouble. I let out a breath as strong arms wrapped around my waist and Rayne's scent filled my nostrils.
I shifted so I was facing him and buried my face in his chest my hands beside my head as I gripped his shirt
"Everything will be alright okay?" He soothed kissing the top of my head as he held me tightly. I shook my head and scoffed "That poor kid is dead because of me!" I exclaimed sobbing into his chest.
"That's not one bit true Sierra." Rayne spoke sternly and he gently peeled me off him just enough so he could raise my chin and my eyes were forced to meet his "Don't blame yourself for Mark's actions. It was only a matter of time before he did something this sick." He pointed out.
He might be right but I still felt guilty for all of this. I nodded slowly and snuggled into his arms "I just want everything to be calm... Peaceful." I admitted my eyes wandering around as I tried my best to keep the sobs in.
"I don't want the pack to live in fear anymore Rayne." I whispered closing my eyes tightly and letting out a shaky breath "W-We have to do something Rayne. We can't sit here and watch our pack members get hurt anymore." I admitted looking up to see him nod.
"I agree with that. Which is why in these two weeks we will do everything possible to develop a plan to strike back. Before all of this turns truly hectic." He assured kissing my forehead.
That was exactly what he did. These last two weeks consisted of tracking Mark's scent and hopefully run into his hide out. Many pack fighters trained for war and everyone was advised that if war were to break out to head to the nearest house and hide in the under ground shuttles. Rayne has been stressed out and on edge and we've gotten into about two arguments since the moment on the porch.
I couldn't ask for much though, most of all of the stress and fears laid on his shoulders. He was the one who called the shots, who decides to send in the fighters and risk their lives. He knew the consequences of war and these past few days he has learned to actually care about others and he wishes to avoid war at all cost... but we were all pretty aware with Mark's persistence that it was most likely this would end in exactly that, war.
Today was the first snow day and I was so excited "Finally snow!" April yelped and clapped her hands happily causing me to giggle at how she seemed like a child looking out the window excited to go outside. I wrapped a scarf around my neck and opened the door "You ready?" I questioned April looking at me with a 'duh' expression before rushing passed me and outside to the six inch of snow.
April quickly put on her gloves and took handful of snow in her hands and started to sculpt it into a round circle with her hands "Snow ball fight!" She yelled at the group of kids in the street. I giggled as they screamed and laughed hiding behind cars and beginning to make their own snow balls. I watched from a distance because I honestly didn't want to join in the game.
I was startled as a pair of hands rested on my waist and I instantly looked up and sighed in relief as it was Rayne "Finally decided to take a break?" I questioned causing him to sigh and kiss the top of my head "Yes, just wanted to spend some time with you." He admitted causing my heart to soar and a wide smile to develop on my lips "Good because I missed you." I admitted turning around and standing on my tippy toes to be able to peck his lips "I missed you to." He admitted kissing my forehead before turning me back around and wrapping his arms around my neck watching the kids laugh and enjoy the snow day "This is how I want it to be all the time..." Rayne mumbled leaning his head down so it was beside mine "Care free, joy... It's all I want for my pack." He added sighing as his voice sounded tired and warned out.
I turned and gave him a sad expression "And we will get that for them." I assured confidently causing him to smile and nod "With you by my side, I can do anything baby." He admitted pecking my lips but I quickly gasped as a force hit my back. A snowball. I turned and glared at April as she whistled and pretended as if she didn't throw it "Oh its on!" I exclaimed.
