Paynes's POV
Before the attack.
It was hard leaving her but I had to secure the gates and pack members. I called a pack meeting and dad and Ian stood by my side. Ian now knowing what I knew about dad kept his guard up "Alright listen, be on alert. We have reason to believe that Mark and his army will attack anytime now." I informed causing tension to fill the air.
I tensed and stepped forward from beside Ian and dad to be closer to my pack warriors "I know... I was just as relieved that we haven't had to go to war in awhile." I admitted sad expressions consuming their faces as they lowered their heads and some nodded in agreement.
"But this threat is serious. He has stepped boundaries, killed a child and threatens our Luna." I spoke loudly and powerfully causing some to raise their heads and their chests to puff out in pride.
"Don't do it just to fight, don't do it just because I have asked you to, do it to protect the ones you love. To show anyone else out there that if they step to us and threaten our families we will not sit here and just watch our people die!" I yelled causing everyone in the room to nod looks of determination with mixture of anger took over their once sad ones.
I let out a growl and soon the whole room vibrated with their roars indicating we were all on the same page "Keep your guards up,secure your family." I informed nodding "Meeting dismissed." I muttered before everyone stood and began to walk out.
I turned to see dad nodding proudly "You are a great Alpha. I am proud of you Rayne." He admitted and it only caused me disgust. I gave him a glare before I turned and waited for everyone to leave "Marshall, you stay." I ordered Marshall nodding and stepping aside so everyone else could continue leaving.
Once everyone left and I nodded "Lock the door then head out. Nobody comes in." I ordered Marshall taking in a breath before nodding and obeying.
Once the sound of the door locking behind him rung in my ears I turned and took dad by the throat my wolf begging for permission to surface and kill him. Ian stepped aside and dads hands curled around my arm.
"R-Rayne-" I cut him off with my alpha growl and glared at him with my black eyes "You disgust me!" I yelled shoving him back so that he fell and stumbled into a table behind him.
He held himself up with it and looked at me in shock "Have you lost your mind?" He asked trying to catch his breath "Lost my mind? No you have!" I yelled my hands in fists as I tried my best to compose myself attempting to speak to him first.
I wanted to hear him say they were all lies... but even if I did I was sure I wouldn't believe a word that came out of his mouth. My whole body shook as Ian looked at me with a sad expression "Rayne, I can take care of this. This is too hard for you to do." Ian pointed out and I raised my hand in a 'stop' motion and he quickly shut his mouth
"You killed my mother.." I mumbled panting dads eyes widening "R-Rayne how could you say such a..." He trailed off and glared at me "You found the book, Jim didn't burn it." Dad mumbled to himself as he looked down his eyes scattering around the floor as he attempted to come up with something convincing to say no doubt "How could you!" I yelled angrily lunging at him.
He dodged it and swung catching me a good time in the jaw. Ian growled and kicked him away from me causing him to hit the wall.
"Don't touch him!" Ian warned stepping back as I stood straight and rubbed my chin as I glared at dad "She took my pups away from me! She tried to destroy the pack!" He admitted and that just caused my blood to boil.
I growled and grabbed him by the hem of his shirt and twirled him around and let him go so that he landed on top of a table and it broke underneath him. I heard him groan and Ian went to pick him up but I motioned him to stop again and made my way to dad again picking him up and landing a good punch to his face.
"She just wanted to be happy!" I yelled pushing him, he stumbled but maintained on his feet his eyes meeting mine "You're a monster! You don't deserve to live!" I pointed out my chest rumbling as my wolf continued to beg to surface and this time I allowed him just a small amount of control "Sit him down." I ordered Ian a voice echoing behind mine.
Ian hesitated before nodding and pulling up a chair behind dad and roughly sat him down by the shoulders.
He was all bloody by the time the alarms rang and Marshall rushed in looking at dad with wide eyes before looking back at me "They're attacking now." Marshall informed my chest rumbling.
"Good." I mumbled looking down at dad as he looked up at me "I can feed you to the rouges." I muttered coldly his eyes widening.
