Chapter 5: Bruised

Jackson's Perspective
     Me and Caleb were able to come back a day early from our trip. We were holding a grand trophy.

     When I got off the bus, a faint, but putrid, smell had attacked my nostrils. This odor seems familiar. I hated it because it made me a little agitated. Caleb didn't seem to notice anything.

     I wanted to surprise Percy and the others, so I didn't tell them we were coming early. I was following Percy to his dorm, when I noticed he was in pain. I could smell a faint trace of blood.
Who the hell...!!!!
     I called Brittany over and told her not to tell anyone me and Caleb were here. I made sure Caleb stayed with me till tomorrow.

     "I can guess why you called me here. Percy, right?"
     "I know you don't like getting involved, but I'd like it if you'd tell me everything you know about what is happening."
     "What if I didn't know anything?" She replied.
     I got up, "I will give you anything you want... anything." I knew she was kind of obsessed with me so I thought she might want more than a kiss.
     She looked at me like I didn't just put my body on the line when she stated, "No need. If you feel this strongly, who am I to get in the way."

      When she told me, I was in shock from the info.
     It was my ex-boyfriend. Though apparently, he had amnesia and hated my guts. He was the leader of the Hell Flower Gang, which makes sense. Damn! He's going to be troublesome. We never really went all out, but I never won our matches either. He had the advantage Magic-wise and very good with it as well. I'm going to have to stop this at all cost.

     Later that day, I walked into the wooded area outside the school. I was following the scent from before and felt Magic moving everywhere. This is bad. I'm in his domain.
     I noticed an obvious spike in power ahead and sprinted over. I see him... Nox.

"Long time no see Jackson." His angelic, innocent voice made me uncomfortable, it felt out of place.
"Hey, Nox! I don't know what you think happened, but we didn't end in bad terms! You just have amnesia, but that doesn't mean you can go hurting people close to me!"
     "Shut the hell up." Large, thick vines protruded from the ground and came towards me suddenly.
     I covered myself in electricity and braced. I was flung somewhere else. There's no way that's Plant Magic! He now has Nature Magic! Damn! This was bad. I've never beaten him with Plant, let alone its higher form.
     I swiveled my head around to study the area. There were no trees. Why did he send me here?
     "Brought you here for a little fairness. I'll beat you without the use of trees." He gave a kind smile. It's just, so out of place. He walked up.
     I ran towards his side to tase him, using Magic to enhance my running speed. He dodged with a hair's width and used his palm to hit me in the face. Why is he trying to fight like this?
     I dodged and felt a prick on my neck. I almost immediately felt nauseous and numb.
     "How does it feel? Looks like I can take my revenge."
Damn it! Electricity began flowing through my veins in an obvious glow.
      My eyes began to glow yellow. Woah. Is this my Cypher? I could feel a new way to use my Magic and it was incredible.
     He tried creating vines to grab me, but I created a whip of electricity to slice right through it. "Hmm! Guess this won't be as easy as I thought!" He declared. "For not only embarrassing me, but traumatizing me. I will never forgive you!!"
     "Nox!! I know you're mad, but think rationally!! I never did anything!"
     The grass under me grasped my feet before I used my Magic to burn through them and burst forward.

     After we finally settled what happened, lots of shit, we both came to Percy's dorm. I was covered in bruises, scratches, and a couple of broken bones.
     Nox finally regained his memories and apologized to Percy. I had asked Percy out again, and guess what...!!? He said I lied to him about telling him when I'd come back, then rejected me again.
     Haaa! For the people I love. 😭
