Chapter 12: Day Off

Percy's Perspective
Well, tomorrow is Jackson's birthday. He wouldn't tell me, so I asked Caleb a couple weeks ago. Luckily it was in time.
I talked with Obsidian on what his brother would like. He didn't have much to say on that point, he sounded like he had a lot of work, but it should be fine. He's doing something for us tomorrow.

     "Percy!!" He had a whine in his voice. "Where are we going?"
     "We are going on a date. Deal with it!"
     "Okay, but, today?"
     I ignored him as I almost had to drag him around town.

     He seemed relieved that we got some ice cream. He doesn't do too well in 90 degree weather.
     While eating our ice cream, I led him to a place I used to love coming to.

     I was a bit apprehensive, but shook it off. I don't know exactly what it is, but he seems to hate his birthday.
     "Sooo. Jacky. Why do you not like your birthday?" I winced at his possible outburst.
     He looked towards me with concern. "I-I don't hate it..! It's just, mainly my family have stuff to do. My brother typically tries his best to make it great, but we never get to do what I've always wanted."
     I was quite interested. "What is it you want?"
     He paused and it seemed like he's was embarrassed. "I want Obsidian to take me seriously." He stopped and thought for a second. "I-it's not like he doesn't respect me! I just want him to fight me seriously. I always feel as though he's hiding something though."
     Jackson seemed a little down. I tried holding back a laugh. "W-what are you laughing at!!!" I could almost see the redness through his brown and tan fur.
     "It's nothing!!!" I was doing a horrible job lying while laughing. "It's not at you. I promise."
     After I finally calmed down, and he seemed to lighten up, I thought it was the best time to ask him something stupid. "So, is that bacon ice cream any good?"
     "YEAH!! It's the best I've ever had!! Always get it.. Wanna try?" He pointed it towards me. I closed my eyes and went for it.
     I felt his muscled arm wrap around me and brought me to a kiss. He then grabbed my jaw so I couldn't close my mouth and forced is ice cream cone to my tongue. "Hope you like it!~"
     I gagged. It's fucking horrible!!! How does anyone eat this!!!?
     He just snorted, snickering at my misfortune. I couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. It was like frozen saltwater with chewy meat that doesn't belong.
     We just laughed and watched the water.

Obsidian's Perspective
     After the Devils' attack a while ago, all High-Class Hunters of America were called for protection. Though as a support-type, I was stuck doing office work on Hunter affairs and placement.
     It's Jacky's birthday tomorrow and I usually have something to do so I make a quick, but big celebration for him. He's just so adorable when he's shy.
     My girlfriend, Adriya, told me he wanted to have a more challenging fight with me, so I decided to hold his ranking match for him tomorrow. I had to cram a lot of work in to make time.
I look over on a sheet of paper and find someone.

My face melded into one of distaste.

     I'm going to crash after a quick snack tonight, but first, I got to get a Hunter from undercover.

     I was walking towards our rendezvous and saw a demon child.

     He was visibly terrified. "HOLY SHIT!!! A World-Class!!" He immediately sensed my status.
     Before he ran off, he collapsed and the demonic feeling from him vanished completely as his fur changed color slightly.

     What kind of sucky disguise is that?!
     "Mornin' 'Sleeper'!~"
     He got up as if he was renewed. "Hey Obsidian... I got a lot to tell you."

Percy's Perspective
     We went out to eat at a burger restaurant. He was surprised when I told him I've never had one. He shared this giant sandwich with me. It was literally the size of his humungous hands.
     People watched as he tried feeding me this massive pile of bread, lettuce, and meat. They were all smiling. Florida is pretty accommodating for sexualities.

We got to have a little fun,~ then went back out to the lake from before at night.
There were fireflies everywhere. Their glorious, graceful dancing was mesmerizing. I remembered good times, and the worst time.
My eyes leaking and me trying to hide it. Jackson gently wrapped an arm around me and licked my tears. I couldn't help but laugh.

We stared out to the place where I was hurt the most.

     Meanwhile, in a bush, someone was taking photos and sneering at them.
