Bellamy POV
The last few days have been hard and confusing. I am angry and sad that Gina is dead. She was in the mountain when the ice nation blew it up. I am also confused. Clarke kissed me. We haven't kissed since that day she left Arkadia.
We hold a memorial for all those who where lost in mount weather. As we sit there, Lincoln comes in but the others get upset. They think the grounders living here should be killed or imprisoned, that it is their fault. Lincoln leaves, hurt after being stabbed by one of them. I want to go after him but I know if I do others will think I am with the grounders.
That night Pike convinces me that we need to take the weapons. That we need to take the army of grounders out before they attack us. I know they are there to keep us safe. I agree, helping him. We are almost at the gate when Kane stops us with other guards. He arrests us but not before I make a statement, yelling Pike's name.
The next day the people vote for a new chancellor, Pike wins. Pardoning all those who were involved in last nights raid. He tells me we are going to destroy the army. Sending the grounders and their commander a message.
Clarke POV
Lexa and I ride to Arkadia to deliver them the news that Queen Nia is dead. The war is over. A war I was suppose to lead. In a way I am glad that I don't. Roan has gone home, bringing the army back. I look at her and see her staring.
"What is it?" I ask her.
"You seem happier." She says. "You care about him."
"Who?" I ask, knowing who she is asking about.
"The Skaikru boy that stormed the summit. I remember him as our inside man in mount weather. Bellamy?" I nod, smiling.
"I do not know if he feels the same anymore. I left."
"But now you are coming home." I smile again when riders approach us. They tell us there is a disturbance up ahead. We ride after them, stopping when we see bodies lying dead on the field. We get off out horses and start walking along.
"What happened?" I ask.
"Commander we found one alive." A warrior calls. We rush over to find Indra still alive. Lexa and I kneel beside her. I put my hand on her shoulder, trying to help her.
"Who did this?" Lexa asks.
"Skaikru. They came to us in the night. Our scouts where in the north, we did not see them coming." Indra says.
"How could Kane let this happen?" I ask.
"It wasn't him. They have a new chancellor. Pike." Who is Pike? I wonder. "Bellamy was the one who convinced them to keep me alive, to give you a message."
"Bellamy was apart of this?" I say as Lexa asks for the message.
"This land is there's now. Any grounder will be killed. They reject the coalition." I look at Lexa to see the fire inside her burning. She is angry. She stands up looking at her warriors.
"Send riders to the twelve clans. In a days time we lay waste to Arkadia and anyone in it." She looks at me. I have to make my choice now. To save the Arkadia or to destroy it.
Bellamy POV
We arrive back at Arkadia, covered in mud and blood. I walk in when Octavia stops me.
"Bellamy. You okay?" She asks.
"I'm fine." I say, still in shock.
"What happened out there?" I look at her before continuing to walk. I can't tell her. She will never forgive me but she will find out.
"Everybody listen up!" Pike calls as people gather around him. "24 hours ago you elected me your chancellor. Every action I've taken since and every action I will take will be to achieve one sacred goal. The creation of a self-sustaining, prosperous and safe Arkadia." People agree with him, half-cheering.
"This morning on the muddy field, our people paid tribute to those who have been taken from us by sending a message to the Grounders. This land is ours now!" People yell and cheer. "Resist and you will be met by force. Fight and you will be greeted by death. Today is a new beginning. Mark it down. Remember it. Just like the Grounders will remember it." People cheer even louder. I stare at him, still wondering if we did the right thing.
I start to walk away when Kane, Lincoln, Abby and Octavia stop me. I stare at them knowing the speech they will give me. She would give the same one.
"What the hell happened out there?" Lincoln says to me.
"We did what we had to." I say, not feeling any of those words.
"Wake up. You attacked an army that was here to help us. Murdered innocent people. Is that who you are now? You thought you could live with yourself after Mount Weather. Well, you just started a war that will kill us all." I look at Kane to see him disappointed and angry.
"You need to wake up. And don't tell me the difference between Azgeda and Trikru. Trikru killed thirty-seven of my friends before you even touched the ground. We didn't start anything; they did." I finally say.
"Clarke wouldn't like this." I look at Octavia.
"Clarke left us." I argue.
"She was coming back. She was to lead the grounders against Azgeda." Abby says. I shake my head looking away.
"You have to see that you are starting a war." Lincoln says. I stare into his eyes. "If you let this happen. No one will be safe." I look towards the forest, remembering her walking away after Mount Weather. Would she have done this? To keep her people safe? A hand touches my arm. I look down at Octavia.
"Bell, you have to stop this." She says. That's when I realize the mistake I made in siding with Pike.
"What have I done?" I say kneeling to the ground, placing my head in my hands. A hand touches my shoulder. I look at the hand and then Kane.
"It's not too late." He says.
"Bellamy!" I turn to see Pike calling me.
"It is for me."I look back at Kane before following Pike into Arkadia. I deserve no forgiveness for what i've done. I am monster.
