Clarke POV

I drive through the sands towards the valley. Madi is sleeping beside me. I keep looking at her. She woke up before we left but fell back to sleep.

I stop the rover. I stare out at the night wondering if I did the right thing, leaving him. I look at her, smoothing her hair back. This night could have been worse. She could be the commander. She could have died. She stirs, opening her eyes. She looks at me, smiling.

"How do you feel?" She sits up looking around.

"Where are we?"

"We are on our way to valley." I say, moving my hand back.

"Where's dad?" I let out a breathe. She called him dad. I look away, tears burning in my eyes. "Nomon?" I look back at her. "He's still in Polis, isn't he?" I nod, wiping the tears away.

"I made a choice. Octavia helped me save you." I put my hands on her face but she pushes them away.

"They will die?" I nod. "I thought you loved him?" She looks away. I take a deep breathe looking out the window.

"I do love him but sometimes you have to make a choice. It was you or him. That was Octavia's offer." She looks at me and then looks back out. I turn the rover back on. "Every choice I have made is for you. Even if it costs me my life."

"What do you mean?" I look at her. I press on the gas, driving the rover forward. Madi doesn't question me anymore. I stare at the dark night, wondering if I made the right choice.

Bellamy POV

I lie in a cell, wondering what will happen next. I know I betrayed her but she didn't have to leave me. She could have found another way. She use to. Maybe we all changed in the last six years. The door opens. I look to see Octavia walking in, she sits by my head but I sit up, my back to her.

"Remember lily pads?" She says. I remember. "God, you use to hate that game." She half-laughs, trying to get a reaction out of me. "Jumping from table, to chair, to bed. First one to who touches the ground, loses. You never once said no and you always let me win. Do you remember the last time we played?" I sit up straighter. "I cut my lip, I bled all over the place. I was so worried that someone would see it on the floor and find me. You took care of that. You cut your own arm so no one would find me." I rub the cut on my arm. "Long way from that to betraying me."

"Not really." I turn looking at her. "What I did was to save you from yourself."

"You could have killed Madi." I turn back around.

"I know."

"Clarke would have killed you if that had happen." I look down at my hands.  "She's gone." She says. I look over my shoulder at her. "I let her go to save your daughter."

"So what? You kill me and then march to the valley? What happens to her then?"

"We made a deal. Don't worry about them. They will be safe." She says. I turn to look at her fully.

"I can't believe you still want to go to war. Even after Indra has told you how many of your people will die. What kind of leader does that?"

"Clarke never had a problem with that." She says. "Or should I say Wanheda." I haven't heard that name in six years. "You have no idea what you're talking about?" She glares at me.

"Don't I? You turned this place into a story from your childhood. The red queen? It's a joke." I yell at her. "And I can still tell when you're scared."

"I came here to save you. Now I'm not so sure I should."

"This should be good."

"Indra has a weakness." She stands up facing me. "Her shoulder never fully healed from when Pike put a bullet in her. The last time you chose the wrong side of war."

"You came here to help me kill the woman who made you who you are." I look at her.

"I love Indra but she isn't my blood." She sits down beside me. "You are." She soon tells me what I should do, what weapon I should take. I tune her out. If she really loved me should would set me free so I can go and save my family. I rub my hands over my face.

"Octavia would you listen to yourself." It doesn't work. She continues to talk. She kneels down in front of me putting her hands on my legs.

"Tell me you understand?" I look down at her face.

"I wish I did. I wish I knew what made you this way. And I wish I could have been here to take the burden away from you these last six years. I'm here now. The way I see it we have two options. We can make a deal with Diyoza to share the valley or you can watch me die in that arena today." I stare at her. "Because I'm not fighting."

She stands up, angry. She doesn't like what I said. I've hit a nerve. She starts to walk away when she turns looking at me.

"Everyone fights." She walks out, leaving me to my thoughts.

A few hours later guards come, taking me to the pit. I walk out with Gaia and Indra. Can I do this? Fight them to the death? I wish I hadn't betrayed her. That I told her how I felt, now she will never know.

I stop looking up at her. Her face painted red and black. Blodreina. I stare at her. She soon speaks. I barely hear her as I watch the girl I knew gone. I wish I understand what happen but I will never know because I will die.

"Be the last." Octavia says and I soon move to the wall, grabbing a sword. I push Gaia down, knocking her out. Indra stares at her before lunging at me.

I dodge her and then try to go after her when she cuts my arm. I grab my arm, lunging forward again.

"Stop!" I hear someone yell above us. Indra stops looking up. I follow her gaze seeing her standing at the door, Madi clutching her leg. She stares down at us. She walks over to Octavia.

"This isn't right." She says to her.

"You made your choice when you chose Madi." She turns looking at Clarke. I stare at them.

"I made a mistake just like you are now." She looks down at me. "I'm sorry." She smiles at me. I smile staring at her.

"I'm sorry too, Clarke." She looks at Octavia. "Arrest her!" Warriors grab her and Madi.

"Nomon!" Madi yells as a warrior takes her out of the room.

"Madi!" Clarke yells as they hold her. Octavia walks up to her.

"Now you get to watch the man you love die before I kill you." Octavia turns looking at us. "I said be the last!" She throws a spear down. I stare at her before going back to fight Indra. I dodge her until she knocks me down, her sword over my chest.

"No!" Clarke cries out.

"I'm sorry, Bellamy." She raises her sword about to kill me. I look up at Clarke seeing the tears falling down her cheeks. She came back, she tried. That's what matter. I forgive her for everything. I close my eyes ready to die.
