Bellamy POV
The next morning I leave Madi and Clarke sleeping. I kiss their heads before walking out of the tent. I look around till I spot Octavia. I walk up to her accepting a gun from Miller. We soon walk out of camp behind her. We march into the gorge.
We soon come to some boulders. Octavia stops looking around. I hope the others took out the prisoners. That way we can walk into the valley without being killed. Octavia raises her sword and then points forward. We soon yell running in.
Gunfire from above goes off. People start to fall. I find a boulder, hiding behind it. I get up firing when I a bomb goes off, knocking Octavia and I down. I fall to the ground, blackness claiming me.
I wake up to find Octavia stirring beside me. I still hear gunfire around me.
"Don't move." I say to her. She moves her hand to her head, moaning. I grab her arm. "I said don't move. The second we move we are dead." She looks before us to see a warrior getting up, they soon are shot at, falling to the ground dead.
"This is your fault." She says.
"We are not doing this now." I argue. "Judging by the number that are dead, some of your army had to make it back to the waste land. They won't last long without food or water." I keep thinking of Madi and Clarke. They will die if we don't figure something out.
"We have to get to them." She says. "We take them out."
"I lost my gun. Plus we should wait till it's dark. Once we make it back we get the radio and surrender." I say to her. "We can't win. It's over. We can still..."
"Nothing is over." She interrupts me. "Your intel was bad. At least we know what we are up against." She looks at the cliff.
"O." I try to make her see. "No one is going to follow you. This is your fault not mine. You led them here. You burnt their farm and you made them march. These people are dead because of you." She is about to get up when I grab her, holding her down. Some warriors stand up, surrendering when they are gunned down. I watch them fall, feeling defeated. I might never see Madi and Clarke again.
Clarke POV
I wake up to find Bellamy gone. Madi is still asleep. I leave her, placing the ration beside her. I walk out to find those that stayed waiting at the edge. I walk over to Jackson looking out.
"Do you think they'll come back?" I ask.
"I don't know." He says looking down at me.
We wait there for a few hours when we hear people running towards us. Soon wonkru warriors run towards us, some holding people who are hurt. Jackson, Harper and I get to work helping those that are injured. Miller comes up to us.
"What happened?" I ask after her hugs Jackson.
"They knew we were coming."
"How?" I question. "Echo told us that they would be gone."
"Something went wrong. They knew we were coming. Half the army is still in the gorge."
"Bellamy?" He shakes his head. Tears fill my eyes.
"Him and Octavia are still in the gorge along with many others." I stand up walking away.
"Clarke?" I hear Harper call me but I ignore her. I can't lose him. I just got him back. I know what to do.
I walk over a few slopes. I told Bellamy the rover was gone but it is close by. We had parked it half way between Polis and the valley, running back. I run the rest of the day till I find it, covered in sand. I brush the sand off. I start it up and drive towards the valley.
I get to the valley by nightfall. I find Echo and the others in the woods. They get in and we drive towards the gorge. I will not let him die. I will save him. We drive into the gorge to see Octavia standing there, her hands out.
Murphy stands through the roof, firing at the prisoners as Echo uses the gun attached to the rover. I stop the rover in front of her. They open the door and I look back to see Bellamy bringing Gaia over. He places Gaia in as Indra runs over, jumping in. Octavia gets in as Murphy fires at the prisoners.
Once all in I turn the rover around driving out of there. We get back to camp. Bellamy jumps out, taking Gaia to Jackson. Emori helps Murphy towards them too. I step out of the rover as Madi runs up to me. I kneel down as she throws herself at me. I hold her as she sobs into my neck.
"I'm alright." I rub her back.
I look at Bellamy walking back to us. I turn her to look at Bellamy. She smiles running at him. He picks her up, closing his eyes as he holds her. He finally sets her down walking up to Echo. They hug and I can see the confusion on his face. He's not sure what to do.
Octavia walks out. I stand there watching her as she walks through the warriors. She soon see's that they are not looking at her but me. She turns looking at me. She takes her sword out.
"Octavia wait!" Bellamy calls to her.
"No, let her through." I speak.
The warriors step aside. The warriors see that I did what she couldn't. I brought home those that lived. I knew that many would die, so did Bellamy but she never listened. She walks up to me. For a moment I believe she will kill me. She surprises me when she kneels before me. Soon everyone else does the same.
I look around at everyone even Madi is kneeling. I was once heir to a throne. I should have been queen of Azgeda a long time ago but it never came to be.
"Wanheda." People chant around me.
I stand there unsure what to do. Bellamy is the first to stand up. He walks up to me, smiling. Echo follows him. She knows more about me than anyone, even Bellamy. She knows the history.
"What do I do now?" I ask them.
"Now, you lead." He smiles.
