{28} Reunion

When Shelia called me with a trembling voice that Logan was attacked, I couldn't breathe or think rationally for a moment. I couldn't bear it, if he died I don't know how I could survive it. I couldn't lose any one special to me again, my mental health wouldn't take it. Scarlet found Logan first and called the ambulance and followed it while Shelia and I met her at the hospital later. Sharon was there at the hospital too, she fainted due to shock and exhaustion and had a light concussion but Logan...mama had to break down the news to the three of us carefully and slowly.

"He has three broken ribs, a broken arm and the cut narrowly missed his heart..." There was a simultaneous sharp intake of air by Shelia and I while Scarlet just remained emotion void as usual. Mama continued. "You three, I want you to do me a favour." She said and we nodded. "Logan, he is prone to panic attacks and hallucinations. That is mainly because he seldom sleeps." That got a reaction from Scarlet. Did she know about that?

"There are traces of sedatives in his blood but his body is beginning to get used to them. At this stage, only very heavy sedatives can work for him. What you three have to do is to reassure him always that he is safe. I'm guessing his insomnia is due to trauma. It won't be easy to take his sleeping habit away but you all can always try. Don't overwhelm him, however, just be there. Do I have your word?" We all nodded excluding me. I was angry at him and angry at myself for not noticing sooner. I knew that he was holding out on me but I couldn't place my fingers on what exactly. That fool!

It was evening time already. Shelia and Scarlet had left already while I was the only one in the hospital with Logan. Visiting hours would be over soon but I stayed nevertheless. I suspect that he is hiding more than just insomnia from me. It was just a feeling before but now I can sense it loud and clear. What is it? Just what the hell was it? Something came to my brain but I shook it off because there was no solid evidence.

'Logan, could it be that you're... No. No way.'

I stood up and walked towards the door, taking a last glance at my sleeping friend, and went home with mama, who's shift had ended.

Day two at the hospital...everything was boring and annoying until after school hours when Ayo and Shelia came to visit and teach me what they learnt at school. Scarlet came late but she came nevertheless, which was surprising. She came with Asa who was surprisingly not freaked out by my identity and the fact that I was living with Scarlet for the meantime.

Jordan also came to visit and, surprise surprise, thanked me for saving his girlfriend. He also added that his appreciation did not mean he was forgiving me for being Maru's son but I paid that bit of information no mind at all. I was happy that things were looking up a little bit for me.

Sharon started talking to me again and her lost friendship with Shelia was restored. Ayo suspects me for something and does not fail to express it openly by keeping his eyes on me ALL the time that it was beginning to get creepy. I had to kick him in the gut to keep him from entering the same bathroom stall as me.

It has been a month since I've been here in this 'lovely' place. A lot of surprising things happened during the month like how Don suddenly started visiting me and being my friend again. It started off awkward at first considering that we had not spoken before then but it smoothened out eventually and our friendship was back.
