L O G A N
The only thing Scarlet did was to give me an iPod and a song she loved listening to when she felt lonely: Polaris. It is a nice song with lyrics that made me melt down in tears because it somewhat related with how I felt. It soon became one of my favorite songs. Sean and Nata came to visit, which ended up a disaster because of Ayo and Sean again. Bryan also dropped by once in a while but the others were in out of town. Asa also visited with her boyfriend... Turns out her boyfriend is Mr Mayorkun. Scarlet actually made a surprised face, like a real surprised face because she didn't know about that and Mr Mayorkun mirrored her reaction. It was funny and strange at the same time.
Ayo and Scarlet taught me during the holidays to catch up with what they learnt last term...yeah nerdy, I know but I didn't want to be bumped back a grade because I missed a whole and a half term. Mr Mayorkun gave me grace to take the tests and final exams I missed so it wouldn't affect my grades.
I was free from the oxygen tank and some weeks later, I was discharged and ready to go home. Ayo was the one to pick me because his parents had work and I discovered that Pandora had grown and been taken by the animal control. Ayo definitely did not cry for a night after she was taken, or so he says. That night, a small family party was thrown for my welcome and I was told to live with the Adams from then on.
I was happy, beyond happy that I had a family even though we were not blood related. Also...I had to start therapy. It was troublesome until Ayo's dad forced him into therapy too. He said something about not trusting Ayo's mental health after the stunt I pulled. Therapy's actually not as bad as I envisioned. I am getting better thanks to it.
Now I am in Ite (Ayo's car) and riding to school. To say I am nervous would be an understatement, I am a wreck of nerves right now. I wonder what this new term would bring. I wonder what people would say about me. I hope nothing happens this term.
"Yo."
I jolted back to the present when Ayo spoke and looked away from the dashboard at him only to find out that we had arrived at school and that he had stepped out.
"You coming or what?" He questioned. I gave a grunt before opening the door and stepping out. As soon as I did and he locked the door, an aquamarine bike drove in and parked beside us. The biker removed her black helmet to reveal red hair... Scarlet. She ran her hands through her hair to get rid of the helmet hair and got down from the bike. I don't know why she looked different today but she did. What she wore? An oversized Lakers shirt on baggy shin length khaki shorts on white and yellow sneakers, not different from her usual fashion so why does she look...different?
"I would pretend I didn't see you checking Scarlet out." Ayo's warm breath tickled my ear as he whispered into it.
It took a while but I finally got what he said. My head turned so suddenly, I thought it would roll off my neck. "I am not!" I snapped and speed walked into school. Me? Checking Scarlet out? No way. I am still not over... Shelia!
I froze in my tracks when I saw her. It wasn't an illusion, it was really her with white hair and milky blue eyes. She was talking to Phyllis, Sharon and April. She threw her head back and laughed at something they said... No it's not Shelia, Shelia is dead. Phyllis suddenly noticed me and squealed so loud, I practically covered my ears.
"LOGAN! MY BABY IS BACK!!!" She ran to me and gave me a surprisingly gentle hug. "Oh I missed you so much! See how you've grown!" She released me and checked me out like a mother that was seeing her child after a year of university. Sharon and April also joined in fawning over me like I was some prized possession and the Shelia lookalike also came over.
