[ (y/n)'s POV ]

"Oh you're on."

"Oh yeah? Come at me you-"

But before he could even finish his sentence, I punched him hard, right on his jaw. He stumbled backwards, and as he tried to regain his balance, I took a dagger out of my holster before placing it over his neck.

And when he covered his face in fear, I got the message.

"Looks like I win." I smiled, dusting my hands proudly while everyone else cheered for me. "You, treat him then report him to Keith."

"Yes ma'am."

"You're done with training for today, go over to the entrance and the soldiers will hand you your maneuver gears for tomorrow. Dismissed." I ordered and they all saluted.

I turned around and winced at my blood-stained knuckles.

"Maybe you shouldn't have hit him that hard you show off." Ed nudged me.

"That wasn't me showing off, that was just me warming up." I joked as I stretched my shoulders.

"There she goes again." he sighed as he threw his hands in the air, making us all laugh together.

"I think it was badass but funny as hell at the same time. Did you see his knocked out face?" Isaac added and I simply rolled my eyes at him as I chuckled.

"(y/n), how is your head?" Hange sprinted towards me.

"I'm fine, I have a headache is all. Ed, would you mind bringing me something for my hand?" I asked.

"Yes Cap'."

"Tsk." Levi crossed his arms as his eyes followed Ed's narrowed ones.

"Shorty here got furious when that dude pushed you! He would've killed him if it weren't for me!" Hange teased him.

"Oh really?" I teased back.

"Shut up you shitty glasses."

"I brought you some bandages!" Ed said from afar. "I'll help you wrap 'em up."

Before walking over to Ed, I pinched Levi's left side, startling him and making him wince in pain from the sudden move. I then continued walking away, listening to him swear at Hange who was laughing hysterically.

"Well that was amusing." Ed smirked as he carefully wrapped the fresh bandages around my hand. "You guys had one of your usual fights again?"

"Yeah yeah.." I sighed, signaling Isaac to approach us.

"We're leaving?" he asked.

"We're done for today. Let's go get our horses."

"Oh yeah, when are you going to get a new horse? Your current one got sick right?"

"She.. she's not going to make it, I'm afraid."

"You can ride with me this time." Isaac smiled, offering me his hand.

And I gladly took it.

[ Time Skip ]

It was later that evening and I was walking around the stables looking at the horses, since nobody else was around, except from some workers.

"Horses pick you. Not the other way around."

Looking over my shoulder, my eyes fell on Levi's figure leaning against the stable's entrance. He was wearing a black suit with a white shirt tucked in underneath, his usual handkerchief showing as well.

"I am well aware." I said as he approached me. "You're handsome."

"I-"

"I was referring to the horse."

"Tsk." he said, looking away while crossing his arms.

I silently chuckled so that he wouldn't hear me. I always loved teasing him.

"Look, I'm sorry." he said

"Hmm.."

Silence filled the area as I walked around some more, whereas he kept staring at the sky outside.

"This one."

He looked at me again.

"This is the one." I smiled at a beautiful black horse. I felt attached to it, and it allowed me to pet it as well. But when I grabbed the information board that was hanging next to its door, my eyebrows furrowed.

Male. He doesn't have a name?

"What are you going to name him?" Levi asked.

"I don't know." I whispered in thought. "Kuro?"

"Very creative." he mocked.

"He reminds me of you. Your raven hair, your quiet, yet, strong character." I said, walking closer to him. "Uncontrolable as well." I winked.

"What?" he said as he snatched the information board from my hands to read it.

And it indeed said "hard to control".

I laughed at his expression and started walking towards the workers, leaving him behind.

"Hilarious." he grumpily said, following me.

"Oh, Captain (y/n)! Found a horse that you like? Rather, did a particular horse have a liking for you?" one of the workers chuckled.

"Yes, actually. That one." I pointed at the black-maned horse.

"Are you sure? We haven't trained him well enough."

"Pretty sure." I smiled.

"Okay then. It's settled!"

...

{ Fun fact, Kuro means black in Japanese :) }
