Chapter 29

[ (y/n)'s POV ]

"(y/n)?!"

The titan tightened its grip around my body, the sound of my bones cracking making my eyes widen in pain and shock.

"(y/n)!" Levi shouted. He tried to stand up countless times, over and over again, to the point where his knees started to bleed, but he failed.

The titan lifted its hand up and brought me closer to its mouth. And even though I've stood face to face with titans thousands of times before, I've never been this terrified in my life.

It was funny, really. I was petrified, but I didn't cry. I was still humanity's strongest female soldier, even until the very last moment.

This is it..

"(Y/N)!"

I tilted my head to the side, my eyes meeting with Levi's.

"It's okay if you can't say it back. I love you, I really do, with all my heart." I struggled saying.

I smiled, but my lips trembled. I accepted the fact that I was going to die, but that didn't mean I wanted to.

"NO!"

Suddenly, a deafening scream shook the whole town as Eren bit the titan's nape. The said titan finally let go of me, though, not in the way we all hoped it would. With all of its remaining strength, it threw me on the roof that Levi was on top of. My whole body crashed and I instantly felt it go numb. My eyes felt heavy and I couldn't see anything. My hearing was muffled, though, I could still hear Levi screaming my name over and over again.

I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry..

[ Levi's POV ]

As soon as I saw her limp body collide with the roof, my heart sank to my stomach. She wasn't moving an inch. With all I had left, I dragged my body towards hers.

"(y-y/n)?"

I lifted myself up so that I stood on my knees and took her in my arms, my eyes falling on her lifeless ones.

"ANSWER ME!"

I moved some loose hair away from her face, and with my handkerchief I wiped all the blood that came out of her mouth and nose. I was scared of touching her even the slightest. Terrified of hurting her even more.

"Come on (y/n)! We made a promise remember? We swore not to break it!"

I shook her body gently, but her head fell back and I instantly felt myself become more anxious. I put my hand on the back of her head, only for it to get covered with more blood, so I pressed on the wound with my handkerchief, trying to prevent any more blood loss. Heavy rain started falling from the sky, everything around us becoming blurry, so I took off my cloak and covered her body with it.

"Im so sorry (y/n). I'm begging you, give me one more chance and I promise that I will be better! I will improve myself for you, just please wake up, even if you hate me afterwards!"

I cupped her face with my trembling hands and wiped the one single teardrop that had managed to escape from her eye.

"I love you! I love you so much (y/n)! You are what matters the most to me in this damn life!"

I brought her body closer to mine and embraced her tightly before planting a soft kiss on her lips. I took her hand and placed it on top of my cheek, though, it felt so cold, it sent shivers down my spine.

I started shouting in anguish as I tried to warm up her body.

But she was never coming back.

I wanted to jump off an edge from all the pain.

All of our beautiful memories crossed my mind, and that only made me feel even worse.

I should've said those three words sooner. But I was so scared to do so. Because every time I love someone, they end up dead. It's like I'm the punchline of some awful joke.

"L-Levi.. what happened to (y/n)?"

I looked up and saw Hange staring at us with her eyes wide open.

"N-No, this can't be right. She's.."

Her breathing became heavier with each step she took as she came closer to us. She gripped her hair and closed her eyes as if wishing that they were deceiving her.

"I'm begging you.. please.. save her!"
