[ (y/n)'s POV ]
"Goodmorning guys!"
"Morning Cap'." they said in unison.
I sat with them and ate some breakfast, when Levi came in.
"Oh hey! Wanna join us?" I asked, knowing how grumpy he gets when he wakes up after me.
"I was thinking of us drinking some tea alone, but this works too." he bluntly said.
I pressed my lips together and glanced at Isaac and Ed, throwing them a small, apologetic smile.
They didn't smile back.
Isaac and Ed didn't have the best relationship with Levi. Sometimes Levi would get angry at them for doing stupid shit, for me joining them whenever they did stupid shit, or.. for no reason at all honestly. Actually, he used to get jealous at the beginning of our relationship, even though he wouldn't really admit it.
They, on the other hand, hated the way Levi treated me sometimes. And they hated the fact that I never let them act on their anger whenever me and Levi fought. But they were also pretty jealous of his rank and skills.
We started talking about different topics, and there was a lot of tension between the boys, though, after some time we decided to wrap it up because Levi and I had work to do. Levi mostly stayed at the Survey Corps HQ but I had to go to different areas with my horse most of the time.
Isaac and Ed joined me as well, because even though they were my squad mates, they liked to act as my bodyguards sometimes for fun. I didn't mind it though, I actually found it pretty funny. And I appreciated the company.
[ Time Skip ]
"What a long day." Isaac yawned as he stretched his arms upwards.
"It has only been some hours Isaac, and you didn't do anything! You were playing card games with Ed."
"I got tired though." he pouted.
We hopped on our horses and made our way back to the HQ. I finished work earlier than I expected, so I took a shower, ate lunch, and then walked around the building.
Boring day.
Opening a nearby window, I rested my chin on the top of my palm and closed my eyes, letting the cold breeze hit my face softly. Suddenly, I heard a loud smoke signal.
Could that be..
I rushed to Erwin's office, but before I entered, a cadet came out of it.
"Captain (y/n)!"
"What happened?"
"Titans have gathered around the wall and are trying to climb it!"
A loud crash echoed through town, startling us both.
Looking outside the window, my heart dropped to my stomach. The Armored Titan was trying to make a hole in the wall.
Erwin rushed outside his office and ordered the cadet to inform all of the other soldiers that we had to get ready for battle.
"(y/n)! Be careful." he said and I nodded.
I ran towards the bottom of the building, only to see Hange handing out gears and necessary items to the said soldiers.
"The elite soldiers who are assigned for this misson should head out towards the walls immediately!" I ordered and they all saluted before doing so.
"Oh, (y/n)! Can you please hand these to Levi?" she threw some gass tubes and new blades in my arms.
"Levi? He can't fight, he is not fully healed yet!"
"I said the same thing but he wouldn't listen! I'm sorry (y/n) but I'm very busy right now." she stressed.
I rushed to his office and got inside without even bothering to knock.
"Good, you brought me my gear."
"You are not coming."
"We've talked about this." he said, taking the equipment from my arms and adjusting it to his maneuver gear.
"Levi listen to me! You-"
"I'm not arguing with you right now!" he shouted back.
"With one wrong move your ribs will break again! What are the odds that it will happen in front of a titan? Do you want to get eaten alive?"
"Nobody is going to stop me. Not even you." he spat back, pushing me away to get to the door.
I grabbed his shoulder, forcing him to turn around, and threw a gentle, yet, hard enough punch at his ribs, him grunting in pain from my sudden action.
"See? Don't be such a hardass and listen to me! You are strong, Levi, but not immortal!"
He grabbed my wrist and forced me to look at him.
"I'm assigned to this mission and I can't just stay back here while all of you are fighting. Right now all you're doing is getting on my nerves! Nothing matters to me more than this, so stop it and act like your position for once!"
"Y-You're hurting me." I said, looking directly into his eyes.
He glanced at my wrist and only then did he realize how hard he was gripping it. He let go, our eyes falling on the purple bruises that had already started to appear around it.
"Is this how you really feel?"
It took him some seconds to reply.
"Yes."
"Alright then."
And with that, I walked away.
As I made my way outside, I wrapped my green cloak around my shoulders. I stood next to Erwin, Hange joining me not long after.
"All soldiers, let's fight!" Erwin shouted.
Don't break our promise, Levi.
