[(y/n) 's POV]

"What?"

"You heard me. We're over."

Levi's eyes widened slightly as he scanned my face. I, on the other hand, tried not to break down in front of him.

"I know we're both busy with work and stuff, but you've been pushing me away...it's like you don't care about me anymore."

"(y/n) don't be ridiculou-"

"You've never even said that you love me. Not once. Do you not feel the same?" my hands started shaking. "Did you ever?"

I just wanted to cry, disappear, but I didn't want to seem weak.

"Captain (y/n), Commander Erwin wants you and Captain Levi in the meeting room at once."

"Yeah, we're coming." I sighed.

I turned to look at Levi whose eyes met mine right away.

"If that's what you want then fine."

He walked outside the room, leaving me all alone. Was it bad that I had gotten used to it? Tears managed to escape my eyes, but I quickly wiped them away with the back of my hand. And after calming myself down, I made my way towards the meeting room.

[Levi's POV]

I sat on my chair and sighed as I crossed my arms and legs. (y/n) entered the room as well, not long after.

"Ah, you're here. Now then, let's talk about the final details of the expedition."

I already knew about the 'final details', so I didn't really pay attention to Erwin. Instead, I kept looking at (y/n), whose eyes were avoiding mine.

I'm used to getting hurt, so why do I feel like shit?

"I will be leading in the front. Captain (y/n), you will be in charge of the squad on the left whereas you, Captain Levi, on the right. I'm counting on you two."

And after one quick salute, we were all dismissed.

[Time Skip]

After the meeting, I went outside for some fresh air, only to see (y/n) talking, or at least trying to talk, to the cadets.

"Guys, are you even listening to me?" she sounded exasperated.

"Captain, what's the point? We are all going to die anyway."

"Don't say that!"

"Commander Erwin needs to come up with a better plan."

After what that guy said, everyone started murmuring to each other in agreement. But something changed in (y/n)'s face.

"You better listen 'cause I'm only going to say this once. You are under my command. I'm trying my best to train you all, so that you survive! So if you're so positive that you're going to die out there, that's on you. I get it. You are risking your lives, but so are we. Though we all have a reason, and that main reason is humanity. If you want to see your loved ones, and live your future in peace, you are going to obey the rules."

Silence.

"Now, if anyone wants to leave then so be it. You are either going to serve, or go home. We don't need weaklings anyway."

But not even one person moved.

"Good. I expect you all to be ready for tomorrow's training. Dismissed."

[(y/n)'s POV]

"Captain!"

I turned around only to see my squad members waving at me.

"Everything okay?"

"Your speech was amazing! You really scolded their asses."

"Yeah, you released your inner she-demon. It was about time, really."

I chuckled.

"I was just trying to motivate them. Now, you better get some rest too before I make you run around this building for the rest of the night."

I took out my blades and swung them in the air as they all ran away in fear. Their laughter could be heard from inside the building before it died down as they all went towards their separate ways.

I caught myself smiling as well. They never failed to cheer me up, but I just wish they were a bit more responsible when it came to their lives being on the line.
